Chicharito departs Old Trafford

Manchester United's poacher, Hernandez

Javier Hernandez, the mexican favourite and apparent heir to Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer's throne as an impact man at Manchester United, has made a shock move to rival club Arsenal for a fee of around £14 million. Cantona has been speaking recently to the press about playing attractive, technical football- and while Hernandez certainly seems to guarantee a goal-threat, it was clear to see that he was lacking in the sort of qualities Cantona desired.

Arsenal fans were reportedly frustrated at having let their star man join Manchester United, under Sir Alex Ferguson's management- and sought goals. They have brought in Podolski, Giroud and Javier Hernandez now- all hoping to fill the void that the former Dutch captain has left behind.

The fine details of the deal remain undisclosed for now, but Arsenal fans are thought to be generally surprised at the switch, some even delighted. If given the necessary time to prove himself, Hernandez's likeable personality and work ethic will shine.

Chicharito is such a good player though?! I don't understand? You've got something up your sleeve don't you?
Just been catching up - good buys in Sandro (beast) and Lamela! Shame about Hernandez leaving, always played well against me when i was up against him!
Protest! I want a better picture! And no, not of Hernandez...
@KingPadster: In the end I didn't want to risk shunning him to the bench in favour of other players. He deserves more! :)

@NICK: Yeah, part of me was sad to let him go. But there are no sentiments in football management!

@Arvind: :P

Stevan Jovetic completes the big window

Fiorentina's flamboyant striker, Joveti?

Stevan Joveti?, is the latest entrant into Cantona's new-look Manchester United, having cost them a fee believed to be within the region of £16 million. It is thought to be a reasonable fee for a player that had the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Juventus vying for his signature.

"This deal has been in the works for a long time, and we had to compete with a lot of clubs to sign him. In the end I think it was the prospect of learning from players like Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie that convinced him to come. Stevan is a technical player, and I believe he will help the club change our style for better. He is also versatile, he can play on the wings, behind the striker, and up front. I have great respect for what he can be able to bring to Old Trafford in future." said Cantona.

"To play for a team like Manchester United is what footballers dream about. I will give nothing but my best, and I thank Éric Cantona for this opportunity." Joveti? added.

Manchester United preceded their 2012/2013 campaign with home fixtures against nearby Flixton, and German Champions Borussia Dortmund, before touring Belgium. They then entertained Paris-Saint Germain and Sevilla in home fixtures, before again travelling nearby to Altrincham before finishing with home and away fixtures against Bury and Antwerp respectively. Both of which are officially affiliated with the club.

Speaking of the success of the Pre-Season, Cantona gave a valuable insight into how it would prepare his team for the coming season: "This pre-season was probably a lot harder than normal ones are. I wanted to make it that way to test the squad, and also to test our depth. It is important that the squad can handle the tasks of 60-ish games in a season. As well as that, I needed to find a suitable starting line-up to approach the coming season; I needed to know my key players and my squad players. I included big European fixtures against PSG and Dortmund, to see where we stood with regards to the shape and harmony of the team. Even though, matches like this are only friendlies, the results were very good. We attack well and we strike cleanly, and this is all I wanted. I think we can look forward to the coming season with great confidence."
