Pavel Nedved Taks Charge at Prague
Former Juventus and Lazio star Pavel Nedved has taken charge of Sparta Prague. The Czech played for the club early on in his career before moving to Italy to play for Lazio and then on to Juventus.
The Czech star is hailed as one of the greatest Czech players of all time and his technical ability was unquestionable and with this he sprung to fame at Euro 1996 ans that then led to big money moves elsewhere.
But fans question his managerial ability and if he has the talent for keeping control of the team and making sure they become the dominate force in Czech football once again.
When Pavel was questioned on his new role he was excited to get his new vision of the club across to the fans as he said it a new era for the club.
"We have the best squad in the league that is for sure but we need to work as a team and make sure that we can push for dominance. We know we are good but the past two seasons have been very bad in terms of success. We need to push on now to make sure we win the league this season and become dominant again".
When asked about new signings Nedved told the press that he had two in mind.
"Well firstly we need to extend the contracts of Kadlec and Kweuke before we sign any players. The squad is quite thin so we need some faces so some players with a lot of experience will join us and we can then look at some young players to help the club build for the future".
Nedved did not say any specific names but when asked if he would be at Prague for the long term he had a short answer just to remind the fans that love is not forever.
"Look, I feel I need to experience much more than Czech and Italy and I need to make sure I find new teams to love me. I cant promise I will be here in 5 years time but we will see what happens and if a club comes calling for me then I shall have to consider it as I want to make the most of my career but right now my head is in Prague and I want to focus on the team".
Many fans are sceptical on whether Pavel will be a success but one fan believes Nedved will lead the club to glory.
"He is a great guy and he knows his stuff. He will be a legend at this club and one day he will leave us again but we accept that and we know he can do a great job at the club".
Pavel does not have much time to get used to his new team with only 2 weeks until the season starts and Sparta Prague only have 2 pre-season fixtures organised and one of them is against the B team.
