Hey i used to have this problem a lot, i play as newcastle as ive supported them my whole life and even though they have the best team in the championship i was still leaking goals like crazy!
Rather than it being any team instructions i had set it was my player instructions, defenders were committing themselves too early and allowing the strikers to skip past them.
One thing u can try is to set your instructions on Closing down to Stand off more, that way they will just slow them down and allow the midfield to join in the defence.
What works for me though as i have Steven Taylor And Coloccini i set taylor to be a stopper as he has the right stats and coloccini to cover meaning that if the pressure taylor puts on the attackers doesnt pay off then coloccini can just sweep up as he has good anticipation and positioning.
