Graphics card stopped responding and has recovered

I had this problem since my first game. I doubt it is the laptop or graphic card specs because it is a newly bought laptop. (Nvidia gt 540M 2gb) However I always have this problem when 3d match view is enabled. Whenever I clicked "play", after the team talk and tactics stuff, the screen freezes (together with my mouse) for 15 seconds and a notification popped up with the error "Video card has stopped responding and recovered" and the play resumes. I have no problem with it in 2d view. but 2d view sucks to be honest. I wonder it will damaged my video card or my laptop and please if anyone can provide me a solution it will be greatly appreciated.
