It's pretty easy to win with any half decent formation, I use the exact same formation every single game, I don't think my formation is the best but my teams always overachieve. I think this is because I have every aspect that contributes to top performance at least good (rather than just one super magic trick). Formation, players, player is their best position, team talks, morale, OI, training and more. Remember not to keep picking or buying a player just because you like them, make sure they genuinely add something to the team.
