Unlock German National Team

As with previously installments of Football Manager, FM12 has a certain file that prevents you from managing the German national term and from current German players showing up in the national team, the applies to the Japanese national team. Fixing this is relatively simple, but the effects will only apply to games you have created after fixing it.

Go to:

Windows
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\db\1200\lnc\all

Mac
[username]>library>Application support>Steam>steamapps>common>football manager 2012>data>db>1200>lnc>all

Here you will find 3 or more files:
  • fake.lnc
  • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
  • nleague.lnc.

To unlock the German national team simply delete the fake.Inc file before you create a new game. The other files cause similar restrictions but apply to different competitions so you may as well delete all the files in this folder.

Note: Official updates contain these files too, so if your game has been patched then you will have to delete the files again in the relevant update folder. For example if your FM12 gets updated to 12.1 version go to > Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\updates\update-12.1\db\1210\lnc\all

I bought the CD-version today, and when i installed it, to my surprise, it asked me to register with steam. I did, and installed the game, but now i can't find any of the installments, it seems like it hasn't installed on my computer, but i can play via steam.

I can't find the editor or any other folders, not even the lnc, so i can try and delete the "fake" national teams etc.

Do any of you have the same problems? and know a way to fix them?

TY

The Mac path is [username] -> library -> Application support -> Steam

From here the path is the same as described by the OP.

You have to download the editor in steam separate to football manager.

Hi guys I've read through all these instructions carefully and I still can't find this file. I'm using a Mac. I have gone through all these avenues and I can't find the Steam folder in application support. It boggles my mind a little bit why this years version is so awkward to install and get going on. Any help you guys could give me would be much appreciated.

The Library folder on Lion is by default hidden. You have to option-click on the Go menu in Finder to see the option Library.

That's probably why you can't find it.

I have always wondered why FM does this with the German national team. Does anybody know why?

It's because they can't get copyright for the teams or something along those lines... same with the Japanese team

If I unlock the German and Japanese national teams but coach a club, will the CPU coaches call up real life players or will they still use the fakegen players? Like if I unlock Germany/Japan and coach Dortmund, will Kagawa, Gotze, Hummels, etc get call ups?

Thanks

That is the whole point of unlucking the German National Team so real players are called up.

I thought the whole point was just to be able to coach them! I still wasn't sure how the CPU coach would act... just making sure, thanks!

also, I assume this is only for Germany? I just tried it and didn't see Japan. Even if they're un-coachable, will the CPU still call up real players if the fake.lnc file is deleted? Or is Japan pretty much off-limits in this game?

edit: nvm got it Japan Natl Team to have real-world players after I deleted the other 2 .lnc files... =D thanks again!
