Since I recently analysed Red Bull Salzburg's impressive 3-0 win away to Ajax it got me thinking. ''If you could press like that in FM14 you would be sorted''.
From then on I've tried various pressing systems with various teams with very limited success. It seems to me that while the connotations of watching football are evident they have to be translated into FM in a very peculiar and strange way.For example, my shouts were set to ''drop deeper'' with most of my forward players with ''close down more'' and ''tight marking'' and right from the off they were positioned high from oppo goalkicks and system often resulted in goals even with my mentality near always on counter. The part were I don't understand is when I try to model my pressing systems off managers such as Klopp and Tuchel, although I think I'm getting it right, I'm not. Players often begin to press and then hang about the opposing player in possession even when I have shouts such as ''get stuck in'' and ''hassle opponents'' on.
As I side not I would like to see a little more detail included tactics wise and maybe even set up defensive strategies such as ''pressing traps''etc.
I would like anyone to share any ideas of pressing in FM14 or any tactics people have found success with pressing wise. :)
If you're looking for the counter-pressing Klopp is using, you may find this article useful.
