Did KNAP's Table Ruin Football Manager 2020?

My main point is most Tactics I find here on FMScout are very similar to each other.

2020-07-08 09:38#275808 dmcgrath82 : I think for those with less time to play FM pre- made tactics are a godsend, I get enough grief off the wife for spending too much time on it. And when I try to explain that I've not even played a game, that I've been trawling through looking for players to scout and building tactics, she just rolls her eyes. So fir ne they maximise my playing time, by giving me a form of template to develop from and tweak depending on the system I'm using.
Keep doing what your all doing, if you guys didn't put in the hrs I'd prob play a game a week

You can do that without downloading a tactic. You can create a base tactic in 2 minutes just from whatever ideas you have in your head, that you won't necessarily know if it plays well, then tweak it based on analysis and what you see on the pitch. Feels like an excuse to try and justify it tbh

I have tried, did 8 years of the save before downloading a tactic. What I mean us I don't have the time to sim a load of seasons to test the effectiveness of a tactic.
I appreciate what your saying though.

He does not need to justify it. He can play the game how he wants. This notion that using pre-made tactics is like selling your soul or something is just wrong in my opinion.

You can build a knap tactic in 2 minutes as well, some of them does not even have PI's,
They are all very different.
No idea why it's supposed to be bad. Is it a jealousy thing?
I can understand that SI does not like their ME being found out, but normal users should just play the game how they want.

Bro, i feel ya.
The game is for all to play and for all to enjoy.

I would not say it is cheating.
I am a mechanic (thats why my guys call me spanners)...if i get lost working on a car, then i look for help and advice. Nothing wrong with that.
Could do with a mechanic as I have a ful leak on an Edelbrock 500 carb

One of the things I find frustrating is that there is this supposed 'best way to play' its not reflective of the real game of football. Not all teams that are successful this season in the real world are using what would be perceived as 'positive or attacking' mentality or use geggenpress, so why make a match engine that favours this? Bit short sighted of SI in my humble opinion.
This was also one of the reasons I turned to a 'plug and play tactic, as a rational tactical approach sometimes was just ending in a trouncing. Fir example, when I first started my current save on this FM I wad Venezia in Italy; set up a tactic, followed assistants advice on what mentality to use, use the visual indicator to try get green on the pitch rather than orange/ red. Try to use sensible mentality pairings and TIs only to lose nearly every game of the first 14 before i wad eventually sacked. When in truth, my choices prob weren't that bad, they just didn't fit the MEs favoured settings fir this year. But logically, As a team tipped for relegation, why would I have chosen to play positive or attacking.

Mentality is just a balance of risk and reward, It is just a number on a slider.
I would say the prime reason why it may be higher this year, is that SI have made the AI very defensive.
Another issue is that the AI will often change mentality during a match and will often change from cautious to attacking or very attacking during a match. In order to deal with the AI you may need to turn the dial round to 11.

Basically the name confuses people.

Attacking and defensive.

Should just be "risk", and very much to very little.

Defensive mentality is pretty much slider on 4ish.

Oh and can we have the barrows back please.

Example of how the AI Play, not dissimilar to many attacking tactics
The screenshots shows the A1 on very attacking with 6 attack duties. In theory to match the AI the tactics needs to be aggressive if needed. Often tactics on attacking are not as aggressive as fewer attack duties.
Positive or attacking are not therefore maxed out tactics.

I understand this now, but when I initially started playing this year's version, perhaps I was naive and thought that if I wanted to play counter attacking football I would prob choose a cautious approach rather than positive or attacking. I understand now that is all relative in theory, and I suppose 'positive' is more defensive than attacking if that is what the opposition ate playing
Cautious used to be counter but now there is a counter box to tick, so attacking can be used with counter.
One tweak you can try when needing a SUS is to untickcouter press and counter, so regroup and hold shape.

P&P download tactics can be tweakd from game to game or during a match depending on how you like to play. A download just then becomes the framework.
