Target nab partner role

I'm managing Tamworth in English BSP and using a 442 formation. My problem is upfront, dont know how to set the strike partnership up. My idea is that the big TargetMan plays upfront and his partner behind him, going out wide and roam alot. What role would you recomend? Curently I'we made him a DLF with tweaks not to hold up ball, geting into chanels and cros from byline.

Your second striker should be placed as a Poacher! A quick player who can move into channels, playing in the height of the defensive line and trying to beat the offside trap.. A target man usually takes many attacking chances but a good poacher takes advantage of circumstances and can possibly be proved as your most important scorer!

Poacher/Trequartista works well for my 442. I ran it with City in FM10 and with the FM11 demo and I'm having success with it at Newport County as well.

I play with a advanced forward and an attacking target man To me it depends on the kind of players you have and what stats match with each player. Most target men are slow but great in the air while my advanced forward is very quick. Sometimes i play with a advanced forward and a poacher. I like to change my forwards roles depending on who i have up front.

that is the ideal!!!

but generaly hi like to give the role of advanced foward or deeplying foward, not poacher the player with that role gets a litlle selfish

I'm gonna go with target man support needs a poacher and target man attack needs a trequartista.

Not a good idea to give players roles they are no statiscically good enough to play in. So your right prigrajf. Most of my players are weak in one or two stats whith the role they are playing in but on a whole they fit there roles in the team. I am playing in english L2 by way.

In my tactis I am always tring to set them a role which suites their ability.

I just won promotion for the second season in a row with Newport County using my suggested strike pair - Poacher and Trequartista. The Trequartista role up front hasn't been a problem for me as long as that player is quick with or without the ball so he can draw defenders away from the center of the pitch.

I've never had my assistant say there is a gap between the final third and the central third of the field. I have one of my central midfielders set to either Advanced Playmaker (A) or Deep Lying Playmaker (S). This choice is what's important in terms of talent, IMO.

I tried using an advanced playmaker but found that the player simply isn't class enough to perform in that role (not enough creativity, dribbling, flair, etc). A deep lying role seems to work better because the player can get by with just good passing and creativity.

Well, my support target man was joined with a very fast trequartista and it worked great! my treq lost the most goals scored title by a single goal, and it was only because he got injured 5 games before the end of the season, with my season title well in my grasp.
Right now, I have 5 forwards in my team so I'm rotating them from match to match. I use advanced forward/complete forward combination; or target man/trequartista combination.

Well provided you can get the right players with decent stats (well, decent for BSP/L2), i've found this to work incredibly well:

-have one striker set to advanced forward (attack)
-Have your other front man set to complete forward (support)
-Go into their advanced settings and allow them to swap positions during the game.

Because the stats for complete forward cover those for advanced forward, they interchange quite well. In a game, especially against lower league defenders, this confuses the boots off the opponents defence and allows for some nice cutting through balls past the out of position DCs. In turn this means GOAL GOAL GOALLLLL!

The key is filling that complete forward role. Anyhow, hope that helps somewhat.
