I am trying to work out what "key abilities" are good at what positions - and I have seen a lot of examples - and they all seem to vary.

Is it the colors inside FM 2011 that counts - (blue/light blue coloured abilities)? And are deep blue more important than light blue? And if YES then at what rate - are lighter blue less important at an factor of 0.75 or something.....?

For example - a defender (stopper) have:
Deep blue: Heading, Tackling, Aggression, Bravery, Concentration and Decisions
Lighter blue: Marking, Conmposure, Determination, Positioning, Jumping and Strenght

I am very confused on this issue - so I really hope for some good firm answers from U experts out there :)
Its the attribute value that matters not the colour, as non-league players will not have many bright blue attributes due to the lack of quality. The brighter the blue the better the attribute, and faded gray is the worst colour for attribute. But judge it on value
Hi, thanks for the answer

I do understand that you to have high skill (rather 20 than 1) - if you go to tactics->Formation->then click a players name, then a position as defender stopper will have some highlighted attributes/skills independent from your numeric value - it is these colours I am talking about :)

.....but I understand the confusion!
Ah well these attributes contribute to what type of player that is an example of this could be tha a box to box midfielder is generally better if they have better dribbling finishing andfirst touch attributes believe. Although the highlight fnction is only a guidline in my opinion
