I found a solution and thought id share in case anyone else has this issue in the future. If you add Genie Scout executable to Windows DEP exception list, it seems to allow it to run without issue.The screenshot below should hopefully help you. You need to go to System, Advanced System settings. Then Advanced and then Data Execution Prevention. A reboot will be required before the change takes effect. The Access Violation is in relation to protected memory so Windows seems to stop Genie Scout from running.
As with anything like this, its down to each person whether they choose to use this or not, but thought it worth sharing as this seems to have been an issue for awhile.
