The Story Continues
A few more weeks passed in the summer, with George busy improving his squad. The friendly against Blue Square Bet North team Vauxhall Motors approached, and George fielded a strong side in order to help get a win in this one.

It was a satisfying result for George, as Runcorn won 2-1, thanks to a brace from Matthew Biddle, either side of half time.

After this convincing win, George and his assistant decided to set up another two friendly games, away at Desborough and away at Haringey. The friendly at Desborough ended in a dull 0-0, although Runcorn picked up an injury to key player Robert Cavener. The 22 fans who attended were duly disappointed. The friendly against Haringey was a bad turnout for Runcorn, who lost 3-1, despite a goal from Herbet Seudieu.

More injury worries for George though as Neal Evans picked up an injury late on.
