What's better playing on the disk or by internet connection??

Hey guys i've just bought FM 2011 today and i've just downloaded the first patch but it's taking a large amount of time waiting for the downloads and the site gives you a 12 min waiting time before you can download the next patch

I installed FM so I can only play when the disk is in the drive but what is better playing with an internet connection or on the disk?? If I play with the internet connection will the updates already be done for me when I start up FM rather than doing them manually??

Thanks Mac but does playing with an internet connection download the patches faster?? Mine are taking half an hour to download then there's the 12 minute delay between them

I think it directly patch your game.

If you play by Steam (internet) then you can play in places where there is wi-fi, and you don't need the disk. The patches are automatically downloaded for you. If you play by the disk then you can play anywhere but you need the disk. The patches have to be downloaded from the Sports Interactive website.

I personally prefer playing by Steam.

I prefer playing with disc (I managed to make a dmg of the disc so I don't need to have the actual disc in my laptop, but I only need to mount the file ). Furthermore, I often take my laptop with me and I don't always have internet available, so steam is not the best option for me. Though, if you play on a desktop computer, you probably always have internet available, so this is less of a problem.

I think fmscout also gives a few download links under Download -> fm2011. Though, these might be the same download links you are already downloading from Myself, I have never had significant issues with downloading the patches and as there are only three of them available (which are release with large time intervals) and I never download them all in a row. I also think that the downloading speed is probably higher directly after releasing the patches and they decrease it after a while.

steam is the best, also, you DONT have to have an internet connection to play if you have the steam version, it lets you select to play in " offline mode" if your not connected, with steam it updates patches in a few minutes as well

Ah, I was not aware of this. Well, then I do not think it matters a lot which way you play
