That historic day

It was the 5th May 2013, Newport County were to face Wrexham, in a all Welsh final. The fans filled Wembely and showed their support as they cheered throughout the match, last year Newport only just survived the drop and now they found themselves on the turf of Wembely stadium. The players gazed around the stadium and rubbed their eyes, no this was not a dream... it was real. The whistle blew and the play began, it had been such a long time for Newport, they hadn't been in the football league for 25 years, it had been too long. It was time to end it. The players knew it too and 90 minutes later, the impossible was deemed possible. Newport had done it, they were Play-Off champions!

The History of County

Founded in 1912 Newport began a long rise up the leagues, up and up they went and it was just that. In 1939 they found themselves in the Second division and it looked like there was no stopping Newport... that was until after the II World war when they hit the basement they dropped right down to the 4th division and if that wasn't bad enough 20 years later they entered administration and eventually were liquidated. But it wasn't the end of Newport, they reformed in 1989 and now that is what we aim to do get them to division 2! (now known as the Championship)
