Wild Card Round

Real Salt Lake defeated Chivas USA 3-2, and Sporting Kansas City defeated the New England Revolution 1-0 to advance to the next round. Sporting Kansas City defeated D.C. United the last time they faced, but that was with a tired skeleton crew. D.C. United now has all their weapons available and two matches to prove their superiority over SKC. Can they do it? We're about to find out!
Heh, Challonge :P

D.C. United
MLS Conference Semifinals

Matches

November 2, 2013 - Eastern Conference Semifinal First Leg
Sporting Kansas City 0 - 1 D.C. United
Sporting Kansas City was tired from their Wild Card match, so I played a high tempo passing game to tire them out. They held their own, and the only goal scored was thanks to a penalty. Still, they'll have a hard time being a goal down at RFK Stadium.
Player of the Match: Ike Opara (Sporting Kansas City)

November 6, 2013 - Eastern Conference Semifinal Second Leg
D.C. United 4 - 2 Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City battled hard to get back into it, but there was no beating D.C. United on this night, getting together to score 4 goals and win 5-2 on aggregate.
Player of the Match: Chris Pontius (D.C. United)

After a surprisingly dominant victory over Sporting Kansas City, our next challenge is the New York Red Bulls. We've had success against them before, no reason why we can't now, and it'll be another week of jawing with Mike Petke.

D.C. United
MLS Conference Finals

Matches

November 9, 2013 - Eastern Conference Finals First Leg
New York Red Bulls 2 - 1 D.C. United
On a short turnaround from our last matches, both teams were tired. We took the lead with a Nick DeLeon goal, but defensive mistakes and Bill Hamid mishandling the ball led to New York scoring 2 quick goals in the second half. Denny Landzaat had a chance to tie the game on a penalty, but missed.
Player of the Match: Ibrahim Sekagya (New York Red Bulls)
Rumors: Jurgen Klinsmann was in attendance for the game, rumored to be scouting Bill Hamid and Will Bruin. Sadly, Bruin broke his arm and has been placed on the season ending injury list.

November 16, 2013 - Eastern Conference Finals Second Leg
D.C. United 2 - 0 New York Red Bulls
Not only did we miss Bruin, Dwayne De Rosario also missed the game due to a concussion. For the first 30 minutes, D.C. United constantly tested the goalkeeper, but couldn't score. That changed when Luis Silva scored the tying goal, then Dejan Jakovic scored from a setpiece a few minutes later to take the field. New York was just played off the pitch!
Player of the Match: Dejan Jakovic (D.C. United)

In an upset, FC Dallas defeated the top-seeded Vancouver Whitecaps 3-2 on aggregate. D.C. United also won 3-2 on aggregate. In their only match this season, they drew 1-1 in what was a home match for FC Dallas. There isn't a lot of love between Washington, D.C. and Dallas fans as their American football teams are fierce rivals, and some of that is bound to spill over to their soccer fanbases for this match.

D.C. United
MLS Cup Finals

Matches

November 30, 2013 - MLS Cup Finals
D.C. United 0 - 0 FC Dallas
D.C. United 1 - 3 FC Dallas on penalties
With their 4-1-4-1 it seemed like they were playing for penalties, and we couldn't work our way around them despite having the ball more. They had the two best opportunities to score, including one in the final minute of stoppage time. Kenny Cooper almost scored in the second half of stoppage time, and then our team just had the worst four frames of penalty kicks ever. It was just disgraceful.
Player of the Match: George John (FC Dallas)
So gutted for you, a horrible penalty shootout loss in such a big game in the club's history.
But anyway, to get that far is respectable and I'm sure you'll bounce back next year :)
Very unlucky to lose in a penalty shootout. Looked like you completely dominated them.. but hopefully you can bounce back for next year :)
Damn was looking forward to title number 5. Anyways great season!! You will get it next year!
