Gary Neville quits Sky to take charge at Stalybridge Celtic

38 year old Gary Neville has quit his pundit job at Sky Sports and taken a decision to manage local club Stalybridge Celtic. Gary Neville was born 18th February 1975 is an English former footballer. He is England's most capped right-back and was Manchester United's club captain for five years.

Neville spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford, making him a rare one-club man. At the time of his retirement in 2011, he was United's second longest serving player in the squad, behind his long-time team-mate Ryan Giggs. He made his international debut in 1995 and was first-choice right-back for club and country for more than ten years.
He is the older brother of former Manchester United and Everton captain Phil Neville, who is now the Manchester United first team coach. His sister Tracey Neville played netball for England, his mother Jill is a receptionist for Bury.
Since retiring from football in the middle of the 2010–11 season, Neville then went into punditry and was a commentator for Sky Sports until his decision to take over at Stalybridge.

Neville explained "This is a good opportunity for me to go into management and learn the ropes. I'm not one for walking straight into a top club, I would rather learn from the bottom and work my way up in management, I am very much looking forward to getting stuck in and I'm hoping I can use my knowledge and experience from my playing days to pass on the the players here and see if we can build a successful campaign"
Good luck :D
this is going to be brilliant I can tell!

did anyone else read that in Neville's voice?

No but I re-read it purposely in Neville's voice :)

Oh and good luck for the story, Poachy!
Cheers guys, I'm looking forward to doing this story, really going to try and set out a 'Neville Philosophy', make us very hard to beat and make sure the players always get a foot in!
Good luck Poachy, I've always liked your stories a lot.

Cheers Walter :)

Neville sets out his stall

The tactic

"I have gone for a Rigid style, but an attacking philosophy. I am hoping we will keep our shape and then hit teams on the break. I really want us to hassle our opponents and get in amongst them, disrupt their play amnd always going in for the challenge to win the ball. I dont want our opponents to have any space" Neville said

Squad Report

Pre-Season Friendlies

Neville explained "It's been a mixed pre-season, a few wins and a few losses, but I was impressed with our final friendly as my plan worked a treat. I'm hoping the guys keep on working hard and gel as we come to the start of the campaign"
A very nice tactic, and like you said.. A mixed preseason. Hopefully you can build on this :)

"It's been a really successful month, I couldn't have asked for a better start, we are certainly putting the ball in the back of the net. The players are really starting to adapt to the my philosophy of getting stuck in and winning the ball back high up the pitch. With 5 wins already its starting to look good for the rest of the season. I just have to keep the players feet on the ground because at this level every fixture is tough and anything can happen!" Explained Neville
Great start to the story mate keep it up :D
A brilliant start to this story and to your season. The disappointing results in pre-season have clearly had no impact on your team! Keep it up.

Reporter - Gary, 9 wins from 9 league games, what can you say about that?!

Neville - "I cant really put into words how happy I am with the players, they are showing me some real fight and desire and it is showing in the performances. If you had asked me where I thought we would be at this stage, I would have probably said mid table, but certainly not topping the league by a considerable margin. I am slightly gutted about the loss in FA Cup to Stourbridge, but that is not exactly my main priority at this stage. I'm now hoping for more of the same next month from the lads!"
Wow amazing start! It's not easy to remain unbeaten with the amount of games within a few days of each other! Great choice of manager too
