micah : i think it depends on the league how tough it is quality of keepers Defenders Ect...

Italian League doesn't suit for a guy like aguero, messi, etc..
defender will always close them down and take them down...
Injuries might be close to you..

well I got both Messi and Agüero in my AC Milan squad. In the first two seasons Agüero played badly, not enough goals, low ratings etc. but in my last couple of seasons he's been great. My prefered striker.

But the problem you have with Agüero, I have with Huntelaar. He really doesn't do it for me! But crazy stats!!!

The style of teams and players you put in always have an effect on other players. Aguero did not fit in this case due to the people around him, his potenial does not prosper under these conditions as much as it would somewhere else.

I have aguero in my Arsenal squad for 5 season,and still i can't get the best of him...i tried everything you said (AMC,free role,lone striker,next to a Target striker,etc...) nothing works.He gets 10 goals per season and some assists...and that's it :no ...on the other hand,Adebayor is doing 25-30 goals per season all the time,he assists a lot as well (3 times Striker of the year,golden boot) ...
So,i think that Aguero sucks in FM09...i'm succesfull even if he doesn't play as good as i like,but i got him for 45M and i'm not selling him...well,maybe i will in a year or two :wink

Finally he started scoring and assisting, he scored a goal after 53 games, scored 2, I still can't belive it! Incredibile

Basicly they realised that Aguero is good but only to a standard of a decent player, not good just decent. Or some Fm worker just did it for a laugh (unlikely)

same thing happen to me
i bought him for my man city team about 76M u.s dollar
after played 22 games,nothing much better he can do
i have also santa cruz,robinho & Jo
three of them are better than him
but so far right now he's just getting better and better
but still useless in front of goal:p
