Nigel Who?

Nigel Plaskitt one of footballs new boys has announced himself on the footballing stage by becoming the new manager of the England U21's squad, it is considered to be a huge gamble by the FA having chosen to not go with Gareth Southgate, a man who has heaps of experiance both as a player and as a manager. However the FA seem quite chuffed with their new appointment and have released the following statement:

'We are very happy to have Nigel managing the U21 side, he is a great man with big ambition, he fits in well with what we are trying to do here, he has a great knowledge of the young talent in this country and we're sure he will bring some cracking players in and nurture them to then go on to the Senior team'

The First Interview

10/10/2013

Key:
JW: Jim White
NP: Nigel Plaskitt

JW: We are here with the new manager of the England Under 21's, London's very own Nigel Plaskitt!

NP: Why hello there Jim, its great to be speaking to you on this fine winters evenining, how are you?

JW: Hello there Nigel, We are thrilled to be able to get hold of you ahead of tomorrows game against the Kazakhstan U21's. How are you feeling ahead of the game tomorrow?

NP: I'm feeling very confident Jim, I've got a good bunch of lads here with the right mind set, although I must say that it isn't my strongest squad by any stretch of the imagination, as I came in too late to make any changes ahead of these two games.

JW: That's brilliant, Do you think many of the current squad will stay when you get to select your team next international break?

NP: There won't be too many changes Jim, as some of the lads I've got here are brilliant and will almost definitely make the plane to Brazil or failing that the next European championships in France!

JW: One of the major talking points has to be your experience, this is your first venture into football management, what do you say to the pundits calling your appointment a joke?

NP: I tend not to listen to them to be honest, I was asked to be part of the FA's project to try develop our youngsters and help the England team to success in the coming years and I couldn't exactly say no, I've had my own opinion on our national side and the way they go about their business and its great now to finally have my say and hopefully develop some great English talent, one thing I have to say towards the pundits 'slamming' my appointment is just wait to see what we go on to accomplish at the u21's championships in 2015 then you'll see what I'm really made off!

JW: That's all we've got time for today Nigel but we hope to speak to you again soon, thanks for taking your time out to speak to us, and of course best of luck in the next two games!

NP: My pleasure Jim!

My goal was to get them to qualify because on previous saves it just didn't quite happen, it was also annoying waiting for fixtures it was months at a time so i want to go into managing domestically now, hopefully make a good story too whilst im at it!

Reading Hire Plaskitt

Sky Sports News can today confirm that Nigel Plaskitt will be Reading's new manager ahead of their return to the Premier League, The Royals are said to be delighted to have got their new man following an impressive short stint managing the Young Three Lions.

It has been a busy summer already for the Royals as they have also got a new owner in the form of Russian business man Anton Zingarevich he had this to say:

"It's great to get Nigel, I was an admirer of his work at the U21's and knew I had to get hold of him quick, he is one of the brightest new managers on the block and I look forward to working with him, we have lofty ambitions for this season and I think under his management we can achieve what we want to, perhaps even more!

Summer Signings

I knew this was going to be a tough task, not only did the chairman want me to avoid relegation he also wanted me to finish in a secure mid table spot, this was going to be difficult with the players I had, but the chairman had faith and gave me a respectable £25m transfer kitty to make this possible, he has put a lot of trust an money in me so I need to return the favour and meet his expectations! So I wrote up my shortlist and fielded some calls and I was chuffed with what I managed to get in, almost every player I went in for wanted to buy into the project that is going on here, and here is a look at who I managed to bring in:

Yannick Sagbo: A nice cheap striker with goals, I liked him as a person and what he offers on the pitch, he is a very tidy finisher and I have admired the player for some time, he has determination and that's all I can ask for, I want a determined group of lads here.

Allan McGregor: A goalkeeper with still a lot too offer, I brought him in to help the young Alex McCarthy to develop and also to add experience to this squad, he is a reliable man between the sticks.

Luca Toni: He's been there, done it, got the T-shirt, I am very pleased that I managed to get him on a free transfer, yes he is old, yes he isn't as good as he used to be, but he is a goal scorer nonetheless, and on a free too, what a coup!

Jimmy Briand & Quaresma: I lacked quality on the flanks, nobody really stood out to me and to be able to get these two in on a free was amazing, I am shocked to see that their clubs didnt renew their contract, but their loss is my gain, they bring flair to the team, and hopefully bags of assists too!

Pajtim Kasami: Kasami is a very talented young player, he is confident in his own abilities and knows where the back of the net is, he can assist and also score goals, this is reason I signed him, a great acquisition in my opinion, years ahead of him too!

and last but by no means least: Javi Garcia, he has had a tough start to his Manchester City career and has found himself loan listed the past two seasons, nobody seems to want to touch him but I'm prepared to take a gamble, I hope this guy can really come up trumps for me this season!
