My biggest problem is with the CBs. They are quite dumb this year. They can't mark, too slow, don't tackle, and seem to be more interested in looking at each other than worrying about the ball. They allow the ball, and strikers as well, go beyond them quite easily!

2013-12-28 17:29#151686 haken89 : Okay, new problem.

Everytime I play against a big team, my players (especially my 2 fullbacks) are losing the ball ridiculously by trying to knock the ball past the opponent when the opponent is standing off, thus giving the opponent enough time to read it and take the ball. This is happening like 3-4 times per big match. They're not being pressured like I stated and their first touch/concetration/decisions is decent enough not to make such mistakes. They both have low 'important matches' and one of them has low pressure but I don't see the opposition making these idiotic mistakes (either big or small teams) with their less-competent players.

What about 'Knock ball around opponent' PPM? May be your FBs have them.

They don't possess this PPM as it's too risky for a full back to possess it. I only give it to wingers/strikers with high acceleration, technique and first touch (logically, these are the most important attributes for a player to have in order to execute this move properly). RevolutioN suggested, like I stated, that it perhaps has to do with their low 'important matches' but it seems to rarely happen to the opposition when I play against them and some of their players got low 'important matches' as well (with me, being a big team since I have a 5 star reputation). I've noticed that my players' ability to control the ball is becoming awful if my ball control training percentage drops below 10%, which is idiotic. The whole 'general training focus' system is very misleading and annoying if you ask me.
i really do wish i had seen this post before i bought FM14. ive had it for a few days now and im astonished to how bad it really is! i wouldnt say im as gutted as when CM went for the '3D' choice and ruined there game. i really dont understand how this was approved to sell. it wont get sorted either. what a waste of money!

He missed. But personally I think the game is good, it does have a few issues but they don't ruin the game as some of you might suggest.
I don't think its one of the better titles in recent years, but hey FM has been pretty solid bar last year. I wonder if it will get a engine patch along with the transfer window, probably not, but theres always hope I guess
Those who claim they're satisfied with the game and its match engine are either very lucky or just not as unfourtnate as myself and many others who had given up on this game.

I find myself unable to play 2 consecutive games without conceding a ridiculous goal which has nothing to do with my tactical setup or losing at least 1 player to an injury. What I actually mean when I say "2 consecutive games" is that it mostly happens every game but once in a while I get "lucky".

Furthermore, my instructions sometimes mean absolutely nothing because my players are just doing whatever they want. I tell them to work the ball into the box and tell everyone to "shoot less" - they shoot from 30 meters away and my wingers are trying to shoot from tight angles instead of crossing the ball to the middle where my striker is. I ended up a game once with 37 shots and 35 off target with these instructions.

Some roles and their duties are really bugged. I can't play with a false nine because whenever I do, it's like he's told to shoot on sight, run with the ball often and possesses the 'shoot from long' and 'run with the ball often' PPMs when in reality he doesn't possess these PPMs and I instruct him to do the exact opposite. Inside forwards with attack duty are also quite laughable. They make these outstanding diagonal runs into the center, they're told to try risky passes, hold up the ball and shoot less often, they possess 'try killer balls often' PPM and whenever they get close to the 18 yard box (penalty area), they shoot the worst shot ever instead of trying a diagonal pass to a teammate who cuts inside or a short and not risky pass to another teammate who's free. I would've forgiven them if they could make a goal out of these situations once in a while but that never happened so far and I'm talking about players with high finishing, long shots and technique who are supposed to make much more out of these long shots and they also have high decisions, creativity, passing and teamwork so they're supposed to see these obvious passing choices.

This game is broken on so many levels...
In my first season I was getting an injury literally almost every game. I thought it might have been the training regime but it can't have been because they were on an average schedule and most injuries occurred during a match. I also came across too many red cards especially from players with low aggression. They would carry on picking them up even after I fine their weekly wages. Ridiculous.
2013-12-03 22:51#147735 mike14991499 : I hate it when I lose against the team I should really be winning, and then after aggressive post match team talk, everyone is fired up and motivated. Next match, they play even worse and then they are even more motivated. Come on, show something on the field, I don't care about your green feedback!

I know it's not the game's mistake, I just hate it.

Me 2 ,experienced the same ,I play Fulham I have 32 shots with at least 17 on target and I don't score ,Fulham have like 5 shots and they score ...flippin unbelievable ,its bs = rage quit

Experienced the injuries as well especially before the recent patches came out ,was absolutely ridiculous

I totally agree ,instead of tackling they stand and watch the opposing striker run straight between them and score ,than if I compare my defenders stats against the opposing striker ,its shocking ,my defenders were way better yet they couldn't make a tackle or something =frustrating really .
2013-12-11 14:09#148781 JustHitTheBall : Walcott had not scored a single goal for three seasons. Leicester picked him up after I let his contract expire. 5th round of the new season, I face Leicester at home. 2nd minute - Walcott scores. 11th minutes - Walcott scores. Alt+F4, Uninstall FM14.

Funniest post EVER! I know how you feel though, had the same problem with Hernandez and Welbeck, sold them both and they're doing incredibly well at their new clubs.

Funny. My CBs (Ricardo Ferreira and Kroldrup for Olhanense, Krystian Pearce and Grandison for Torquay) do the defending job very well and regularly get match ratings above 7. I use them in the very simple role of CD(D) and have high amount of interceptions, tackles and won headers. The key here is to use opposition instructions; once you get the hang of it, you can really dominate on defense. About defenders running straight between two defenders, instruct a defender to specifically man mark the lone striker, this means that the striker has someone occupying him.
The game is so frustrating. Whatever tactics i use, whatever instructions i issue, the same things happen. My defenders stand there and the opposition runs past them. If a ball is to be won, my defenders stand still. My players walk slowly into the opposition, lose the ball and inevitably they hit a 40 yard pass though my defense and its a goal. It's utter toss.
My biggest problems are
1. my players seem to be "ball watching" a lot, especially when the ball is just loose on the pitch.
2. they never tackle anyone, and then some games they look like world class defenders.
3. on corners the ball falls in the box and my players all run away. when the computer does it, they attack with venom and my players are left to scramble the ball away.
4. when my players tackle, the ball always falls to the other team, or the guy getting tackle gets the ball back. This never happens for my players.
5. the mood swings with players, never was an issue in the past, but now I have guys that want to go play for a shitty french team in ligue 1 instead of playing in the greek league in CL or the EC. Or you reject an offer, and they are like why didn't you let me go?
6. Finally, injuries, especially long term ones.....I have genie scout, i know what their ratings are. I lose my best players(who have low injury ratings), and it kills the morale on the team. I also have changed the intensity of training, and i still get them regardless of the setting.
I recently spoke to someone at SI via e-mail and he assured me they are working on another patch that should target most of these bugs. It will probably be released after the transfer window so that they can update the transfers too. Hopefully it fixes all the problems.
