When The Saints Go Marching In

Southampton FC. A team who have had their fair share of ups and downs in recent years. Whilst they were never a top team in the Premier League, it was still surprising to see them drop two divisions into League One. Following their first relegation (to the Championship) Southampton had a few seasons where they flirted with a promotion to get themselves back into the top flight. However, financial troubles played a huge part in their relegation to League One. In their first season in the division, they were docked ten points after they were placed in administration. However, they still managed a very respectable 7th place finish.

The next season began their road to recovery. They earned promotion back to the Championship after a very strong season. Saints fans' dreams came true the following season, when Southampton managed to earn a second promotion in as many seasons - ensuring their return to the Premier League. Last season saw them finish 14th, but many were impressed by their style of play. Manager Nigel Adkins was sacked and replaced by Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino halfway through the season. Through their bad times, they managed to produce some fantastic youth talents. Arsenal team-mates Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are some great examples of the talent produced, but the worlds' most expensive player Gareth Bale, was also brought through the Southampton youth ranks. Youngsters James Ward-Prowse and Luke Shaw, who have started to receive media attention for their play, also seem to have an exciting future in football.

The club are also back on a sound financial footing, and have been able to splurge some cash on a few players, such as Uruguayan Gastón Ramírez, who was bought for around £12 million. Fans of the club are optimistic about the upcoming season, but will Pochettino be the man to fulfil the ambitions?
Great start LFC, will enjoy a Southampton story around the site. Will you be trying to hold on the youngsters, and maybe purchasing more?
I will be holding onto them and will develop regens hopefully :) Thanks for the comment :)
Good start LFC, I look forward to the rest of this.
Think you should definitely let that Luke Shaw kid go on a free, doesn't look good tbh.

good start keep going mate ;)

Mauricio Pochettino Sacked For Failure To Learn English

Pochettino has to have a translator to convey his messages

Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese has sacked Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino - because he has not been able to learn English.

Some people may call this harsh, but surely, if he is to take a job in England, then he should learn the language beforehand, or at the very least, have learnt it very quickly when he arrived. Southampton striker Rickie Lambert has offered sympathy for the sacked Argentine and has contradicted Cortese's decision by stating that it was easy to understand what he was saying. He has told us that Pochettino was one of the greatest managers he had played under in his career so far, despite only taking the managers position in January this year. Fans of Southampton have reacted to the decision, with the majority of them understanding the decision to terminate his contract. Cortese will now be looking for a new manager to take the club forward this season, but will they choose the right man, or will it be curtains for the Saints this season? Either way, the decision needs to be made very quickly if the new manager is to get the team playing his way and get their morale back up.
Haha love that storyline. Have fun with Big Vic Wanyama
I've never heard of that guy so he can't be that good of a manager XD. Pretty good cause, too. How can you work in a country and not even make an attempt to speak their language?
HAHA sacked for not learning English! Best storyline ever lmfao :D
LOL oh lord Mauricio get it together
Well...that certainly is one strict owner, keep up the good work.:P
He has pretty decent English now irl :P
Shhh :P
