Bristol Sack O'Driscoll

News has broken out of Ashton Gate as it’s confirmed that Bristol City have today sacked Sean O’Driscoll from his role as the clubs manager. O’Driscoll has taken over at the helm on the 4th January 2013 on a 12 month rolling contract, so some fans are a bit shocked to see him leave just 6 months into the job. Rumours are that the reason for his sacking is that he failed to keep the club in the championship last season, but social networking sites are saying that he criticised the lack of funding made available to him and called the chairman a c**k sucking t**t, which them got him sacked on the spot. O’Driscoll has lost his first game in charge against Leeds, but a victory over Ipswich then changed City’s fortunes and inspired them to get 5 wins and 2 draws from their next 10 games. However the form was not sustained, with 7 defeats, 2 draws and no wins from the clubs last 9 games which subsequently got them relegated to League 1, and was a major factor in his sacking.
O’Driscoll’s playing career saw him rise through the leagues, starting out at his local side Willenhall Town for a year before spending a year at Alvechurch. Fulham then spotted his potential in the lower leagues and he spent 5 years with the London outfit, making 148 appearances, scoring 13 goals. He then moved on to Bournemouth, where he spent 11 years with the club before retiring, making 423 games and scoring 19 goals, as well as making 3 appearances for the Republic Of Ireland, despite being born in Wolverhampton in England. Bristol City fans will be looking for a suitable manager to help the club win promotion back to the Championship, and the board are expected to make their announcement within the next week, and have said they will not hire a manager if they believe the fans will never warm to him. Early contenders for the post are former QPR manager Neil Warnock, who is 5-1 to take the job with Ladbrokes, long time servant Louis Carey is 9-1 to make the step up from playing to help the team and Steve Coppell’s name was also thrown around to be tempted out of his management exile to take the reins for the second time at the club.
