Zenit Football Club

After an open discussion between Luciano Spalletti and the Zenit Boardroom , the russian Club and the italian Coach decided to terminate the contract today.
Spalletti told the reporters that he is looking for a new experience and he don't longer have the motivation to coach the Zenit team.
The Zenit Boardroom started to look for a new Coach , who is ready to build a squad that will be capable of challeging the best european clubs in the Uefa Champions League.

Zenit Football Club has announced that the unexperienced Coach Vidic92 takes the charge at the Petrovski-Stadium.
This maybe a unexpected appointment from the boardroom , but the chairman stated: ,,Vidic92 showed us that he is ready for success.He is young , ambitious and represents all the Club stands for. We are very positive and think he can help the team to reach their goals. We gave him an one-year-contract so there is no risk for us at all. We gave him the chance and now it is his turn to show us that we were right with this decision. He will get a season to show us his ability and of course we will give him a decent budget to bringt some new players , fitting his plans , in."
Vidic92 already started working with the team and the team is preparing now for the upcoming season.

first i have to check which positions need to be improved
one other problem is the foreign rule ( max. 7 foreign in starting XI)
we already have a lot of foreign players in the squad.

There are rumours that new Zenit Coach Vidic is looking for a new player.
A source from the St.Petersburg Press said that Andriy Yarmolenko from Dynamo Kyiv caught the attention of the Zenit officials.
But with Interest from Manchester City and AS Monaco Yarmolenko have a lot of options to choose from, so Zenit may not be in the pole position in this race.

Ahead of the season starting in a few days we went to talk with the new Manager of Zenit Vidic.

Press: Hello Vidic we are happy that you took time to talk to us , how are you doing?

Vidic: Good Morning. It's always nice for me to talk with the press. I'm feeling good but with the season coming up the whole team starts to feel the pressure. But it's good to finally prove our quality in competitive matches.

Press: You are starting this Saturday with a match against CSKA Moscow.How are you preparing the team for this clash?

Vidic: Well you know there ain't a special preparation for matches like this. We are doing our job at the traning ground and me and the coaching staff are happy with the progress the team is making. The players are starting to understand the new tactic and we i'm very happy with that. I think we are ready for the game on Saturday.

Press: You had some very good results in the pre-Season and some not so good results. How happy are you with the pre-season so far?

Vidic: I think pre-season is all about to get the players fit and get them match experience back after the holidays. We showed some very good displays in the matches we played. But of course there is always room for improvement ,but everybody in the team knows that we have to work hard this season to get some silverware.

Press: Which player impressed you most in the pre-season?

Vidic: For me it is very hard to answer this kind of questions. Of course there a players which are crucial for us but at all i'm very happy with the whole team so far. Of course with 4 Goals and 4 Assists Danny was one of the players that looked very solid. I'm hoping he will continue that way in the following months.

Press: Let's talk about the clubs transfer policy. You didn't sign any player. Can we expect some transfer action in the few weeks?

Vidic: We were in talks with some good players like Andriy Yarmolenko and Antonio Candreva but there were a few problems to finalise the signings. With Antonio and Lazio we already had an agreement , but the player choose another club and signed a contract with Monaco.Of course i was not happy with his decicions but to say the truth it doesn't bother me anymore. I want to sign players that stand behind our project and i think Antonio had other plans with his career.About the Yarmolenko transfer i can not say to much.Dynamo demanded a very high transfer fee for him. We are talking about very much money. Of course Yarmolenko is a very good player but me and the board room decided to walk away from these talks.
We weren't impressed from him so much to pay such a high transfer fee.
Of course we are looking now for another good Winger but there is no news for you so far.

Press: thank you for these informations Vidic and the interview. unfortunately we see that we don't have to much time left. We from the St.Petersburg press want to wish you luck in the upcoming games and hope to talk to you very soon.

St.Petersburg 13th July 2013.Zenit won the Supercup.

15.000 Visitors came to see the game in the Olimp-2 in Rostov.
Both teams started very well and were on fire.
But in 7th minute Zenit was the team that took the lead.
Faizulin found Hulk with a superb pass and the brazilan Striker left Akinfeev no chance.
In the following minutes Zenit was the better team , controlling the ball and creating a lot of chances. But then Musa had the chance to equalise for CSKA. He got a wonderful ball to his feet and was free on goal , but he couldn't control the ball and missed the chance.
In the 37th minute Zenit finally made their chances pay.
Hulk passed the ball into the channel were Arshavin was tackled by Schennikov.
The CSKA defender cleared the ball in to the feet of Axel Witsel who found the need with a clean shoot.
In the second half both teams were playing good football and CSKA tried to comeback.
But they didn't find the net. Instead of that they twice shooted the ball to the woodwork.
Zenit managed to play down the lead professional and finally got the win.

Vidic after the match: It was a very tough match for us , put i'm proud of the team. We controlled the match very well and scored the goals at the right time. That was the difference today. Unfortunatly we don't have to much time to celebrate with the next game in a few days.

There is the first signing in this transfer-window for Zenit.
Vidic decided to sign Nicolas Gaitan for a transfer fee of 6.75 Mio Pound from Benfica Lissabon.
The 25 year old winger will get a contract till 2017 at the Petrovski Stadium and already started traning with the team.
Vidic on the transfer: finally we got a quality winger.Nicolas can play many positions in our system and i'm very happy to welcome him to the squad.I believe that he will play well for us but we have to give him the time that he needs to settle down in our team.

St.Petersburg 17th July 2013.first game - first win.
After celebrating their win against CSKA on Saturday Zenit had their first Premier League Match against Kyryla Sovetov on Wednesday.
Hulk scored twice and Danny also scored as Zenit won 3:1 at the Petrovski today.
For the Sovetov Side former Rubin Player Sergeij Kornilenko scored a goal.

Vidic about the match: Hulks early goal helped us and gave us the confidence we needed.
I really like how we took control of the match in the first half and then Danny made it clear for us. In the second half it was our task to do a professional job and fight against our complancy.
Hulk impressed me really much in this game , he was there where a striker should be.
Although i'm not happy that we conceded a goal it was a very solid performance from our team.
We are now on our way to Amkar and of course when need the 3 points there also.
