Matchday 1

Palermo 0 - 3 Napoli

A shocking start to the Serie A campaign for Palermo who have just had a whole clear-out of players in the summer. Surely this is just the new signings struggling to gel together? They'll have everything sorted and will be around mid-table, maybe pushing into the top-half by Christmas. - A.C. Milan legend Paolo Maldini on Palermo's opening day 3-0 loss to Napoli.

Matchday 19 - Halfway through the Serie A season. Palermo are 19th in the Serie A

Parma 2 - 1 Palermo

I really don't know what's going on at Palermo, they have stars such as Abel Hernandez and Fabrizio Miccoli and are in the relegation zone. Something is definitely wrong there. At least Palermo will have the January transfer period to sort out their problems. If they're still around where they are now in March I think the manager should get the sack in my opinion. - Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo on Palermo's position

Matchday 38 - Palermo relegated after finishing 18th in the Serie A

Palermo 1 - 3 Parma

Palermo boss Sannino sacked after relegation

After having 3 managers in one season, Palermo chairman Maurizio Zamparini sacked the 4th today in Giuseppe Sannino after Palermo were relegated to the Serie B. At the start of the season the 1st manager decided to revamp the whole side with and lost 3-0 to Napoli at home on the first day of the season. And the onslaught carried on from there. Palermo now have to find a new manager to lead them out of the depths of Serie B and try keep their star players.
Different start mate but good luck :)

A.C. Milan Star Takes Over Palermo

Former A.C. Milan midfield hardman Gennaro Gattuso has today agreed to take over Serie B side Cittá di Palermo. "This club has a lot of promise and future. It's just taken a bit of a backward step with wrong decisions being made but I firmly believe I am a good choice. I've had a bit of experience of management when I was player-manager of FC Sion for a season and I only just missed out on getting them into the Europa League on goal difference. But I know a lot more about Italian football than Swiss so I think I will be a success here" Said former A.C. Milan captain Gattuso.

Gattuso has 3 challenges really, winning promotion back to the Serie A, getting the finances back on track and finally and most of all, performing well so he impresses the fire-friendly chairman Maurizio Zamparini.

Good luck man
Best of luck! Was sad to see Palermo go down, hopefully you can bring them back up.

Hernández in Fiorentina co-ownership deal

Palermo striker Abel Hernández has today agreed a co-ownership deal with Serie A side ACF Fiorentina for a fee of around €1,400,000. Palermo are the team who are allowed to play Hernández though and is on a reported wage of €20,000 per week at Palermo, quite a big wage for the Serie B. Palermo have brought in a player to cover the potential loss of Hernández in bringing in Austrian striker Roland Linz from Thai club MuangThong United on a free transfer. His wages are reportedly around €5-6k per week. Other major departures are reserve striker Sebastián Sosa sent on loan for the season to fellow Serie B side Siena, with Siena covering 100% of Sosa's €3,400 weekly wages, left-winger Giulio Sanseverino sent on loan to Serie C1/A side Vicenza Calcio on loan until the end of the season with Vicenza paying 100% of his $500 per week wages and Ignacio Lores Varela, the left-midfielder sent on loan to Liga adelante side Luga with Luga paying €2,100 of Varela's €3,500 weekly wages. So new manager Gennaro Gattuso has sent a lot of players on loan to give him more freedom finances-wise. Rumours have it that 19 year-old striker Cephas Malele may be leaving to Portuguese side SL Benfica for €1,500,000.
nice club , very good challenge to promote the team into serie a and then of course stay there
