Hello everyone, I am the head coach of Reading FC in FM2014 and have managed to get the team promoted into Premier League as the winner of Sky Bet Championship last year. In this topic I will be posting my career every now and then. Before I talk about season 2, here is how the team looks one year after my employment.

You may have noticed what transfers I made if you know the Reading squad. To sum up the big deals, I got Franco Signorelli and Nedum Onuoha in my first year. Although I was happy with both of them I sold Signorelli after the first year, signing bigger names like Tom Huddlestone, Ricardo Quaresma and Teemu Pukki.

The screenshot is actually after my first game of the season against Tottenham in which, unfortunately, Jobi McAnuff got injured. Not everything was horrible with the first game though:

I started the game with a counter-style approach since we were clearly underdogs. Tottenham started the game very well, constantly finding shots and keeping possession and it wasn't surprising to see Lennon score after 34 minutes. In the half-time, I made it clear to the players I was not happy with their performance which fired up everyone! Encouraged by this, I set our mentality back to attacking (our original) and Reading was playing like a completely different team.

We were now the pressing side but due to many unlucky shots we were still not getting a goal. Taking a risk I switched our mentality to Overload and Adam Le Fondre managed to capitalize on Tottenham defender Sandro's mistake to make it even at 75th minute: 1-1.

Happy with the result I set the mentality back to attacking and subbed in Jobi McAnuff alongside with 2 other players. 5 minutes later, Onuoha scored yet another goal with a header and made the score 2-1!

I set the mentality to contain and tried to defend, which my players succeded in doing but McAnuff's injury at 90th minute did upset us right before we were getting ready to celebrate victory.

It was a nice beginning to a long season, I'm hoping we can get a mid-table position this season and improve even more the next season. Thanks for reading and feel free to comment!
