A Man's World
Chapter 1: Tough Job Market
Chapter 1: Tough Job Market
McDonalds can only take a girl so far. My love isn't flipping burgers or taking orders. My love isn't minimum wage either. It's soccer. My grandfather played soccer (or football, as he called it) professionally. All my life, I played. When I was a kid, it was at my local Baptist church just for fun. As I got older, I joined a Sunday league. But, soccer is a man's world, and what place does a woman have in it?
My name is Emma Slader. I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. I love sports. It's my passion. I was always around it, and I always tried to learn what I can about every sport I saw played. Football, basketball and soccer are my favorites. I can't coach football or basketball, but I began to think about how many clubs of soccer there were. While the Chicago Fire are my favorite MLS team, maybe there are International Teams who need a fresh take on their franchise?
So far, apparently there are not any. It's been months and no one wants to hire me. I don't know if this is sexism, or just because I am an American with little experience in the professional world. Maybe it's a bit of both, or just bad luck. I don't know, but I hope I get hired soon by someone, anyone. I'd accept little league at this point.
(( Thanks for reading my story. If you like it, I will post more. If you don't, I'll let this die. Have a nice day.
