Hello all,

I've been a massive fan of FM for many years and I've been looking at doing a story on here for a while.

My idea for a story is an alternative reality at Manchester United. What if Gary Neville took charge at United and Moyes stayed at Everton?

I know it isnt an original idea as other people on here have done United saves with legends of the club, but for my first story, I thought that this would be a good starting point.

I'm just starting this thread up now so I can see if people are interested and I will start the story properly once I have finished the first season and release updates every other day to keep the story fresh. I will also look to be a season ahead at all times so that there is always some content available.

Also, it will be from a 1st person viewpoint as Gary Neville with occasional updates with Newspaper/Online Articles and monthly result updates.

Thank You

I will follow :) good luck

Gary Neville – Manchester United Manager (Alternative Reality)

What if Neville became manager and Moyes was never appointed and stayed at Everton?
A story from the 1st Person perspective of Gary Neville & Newspaper and Online Articles.

Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season, Manchester United have confirmed.

Rumours about the 71-year-old's United future began to circulate at the club's golf day on Tuesday with United finally making the announcement on their website that English football's most successful manager will call time on a 26-and-a-half-year reign this summer.

Ferguson's decision comes just days after he secured his 13th Premier League title, and he also delivered United two European Cups, five FA Cups, four League Cups and a European Cup Winners' Cup.

He will stay on at Old Trafford as a director and a club ambassador.

In a statement, Ferguson said: "The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time. I have a successor in mind, but we will reveal who it is when the appointment has been made.”

After Ferguson’s statement, the internet is ablaze with rumors as to who this successor may be. The Bookmakers odds on the new Manchester United manager range from David Moyes at 5-1 to David Beckham at 200-1.

More news will follow as the story develops.

I woke up this morning at 7am in order to be ready for the next England Coach meeting at Wembley at 9am.

I headed out the door at around 8.15am without knowing the amazing offer I was about to receive.
9am rolled around and as I approached the meeting room door, I could see the distinct outline of a familiar figure. It was Sir Alex Ferguson!

I entered the meeting room, confused as to why Sir Alex was there. The obvious had not hit me yet.

“Good Morning Sir Alex, what a surprise to see you here! How are you?” I asked.

He replied; “I’m very well Gary, please take a seat, I have an exciting proposition for you.”
I took my seat next to Roy Hodgson at the table, and as I started to realise what Sir Alex was about to say, my stomach started to feel tense. Could this be the moment when I get offered my dream job?

“I have thought long and hard about this Gary, and after speaking it through with Roy aswell, I would like to offer you the chance to take a step back from the England coaching staff and I would love for you to succeed me as the Manager of Manchester United”, Sir Alex smiled as he spoke.

Oh my goodness! This was it. The moment I had dreamed of.

“Wow, um, woah”; I stuttered over my answer due to the shock of what I had been offered. I cleared my throat and responded; “Yes, oh god yes, thank you so much”.

Sir Alex extended his arm for a handshake and passionately said; “Fantastic! I’m very happy that you have accepted so quickly. I have selected you personally after knowing you and your passion for the game for so many years. Welcome to the greatest job on earth, Gary Neville!”

I quickly stood up from my seat and gave Sir Alex a handshake and repeated “Thank you” over and over again. I was still in shock.

“We will have a press conference tomorrow morning to announce your appointment to the media and the world. Congratulations.”
