Portsmouth F.C confirms appointment of manager, Rápháel Máxence Ráymundo

Portsmouth Football Club’s chairman, Iain McInnes, have shockingly announced the appointment of the club’s new manager, Rápháel Máxence Ráymundo.
Ráymundo was appointed after 42-year-old, Guy Whittingham, tender his resignation and left the club earlier this week, ahead of the club’s preparation for the 2013/2014, SkyBet League 2.

Ráymundo, who joins the club on a one year contract, will take up the role from June 2013 onwards.

Reacting to his appointment, the 25-year-old, English-French manager said: “I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity. The club has a clear vision for success both on and off the pitch and I am committed to making a significant contribution.

Pompeys chairman Ian McInnes said, “Räymundo has display himself as a talented, young manager during the interview and his ambition is to bring Porsmouth Football Club back to the English Premier League”.

McInnes also admitted that it was not an easy task of hiring Räymundo due to his “zero” experience in leading a professional soccer club. However, he is willing to give his new man a chance and has asked the club’s supporters to give the new manager their fullest support.

He added, “All the club’s staff, including the coaches and the board of directors, have sat down and discuss the decision to hire Rápháel Máxence Ráymundo as the next manager. All of the staff have agreed that Ráymundo have shown enough qualities during the interview and that he deserves the chance to lead the club”.

McInnes has now tasked Ráymundo, to minimally reach the play-offs this season.

Pompey's new manager, Rápháel Máxence Ráymundo is on the lookout for additions in the current transfer window.

Ráymundo makes first signings of the season

Phil Smith departs to Blackpool for £28K
Steve Jennings has joined Pompey on a free transfer on Saturday after signing a two-year deal with the club.
Jennings will be Ráymundo's first addition to the squad with the new manager still in talks with West Bromwich's Luke Daniels.

The 28-year-old English midfielder, who was released by Coventry City after his contract expires this year, is set to go into Pompeys manager Rápháel Máxence Ráymundo's side to play KSV Cercle Brugge today.

"As soon as the manager called me I realised straight away that he was really interested in signing me and that it is a great opportunity for me to come here," Jennings told Pompey's website on this morning.

"It is a good club, and we have a good squad. We talked a little bit, but it didn't take long to realise that it was right for me.

Meanwhile, Blackpool manager Paul Ince has made his first signings this transfer window by bringing in Portsmouth F.C goalkeeper, Phil Smith on a reported transfer fee of £28K. This also marks Ráymundo's first piece of business, selling him for a good sum of money.

Smith, who played for Swindon before joining Portsmouth, is said to welcomed the move and the chance of a fresh start.

Portsmouth have also released striker, Ryan Bird & Tom Craddock as well as French defender, Yassin Moutaouakil who failed to impress the new manager.

My first two pre-season match went really well. I was impressed with attacking display with have shown as a team. Ball possession have been impressive so far although I must agree that both the under-21 & Cercle Brugge are not quality teams and that we should win easily, especially against my under-21. But, nonetheless, whether our opponents are weak or strong, I still expect the same, all-round performance from them.
