Today manager Christian Streich annouced his resignation from SC Freibug. He motivated his decision by the fact that last season was the best he could do for this team and that it will be best for the club if someone else came a gave a fresh look to the team. Also the departures of Kruse, Makiadi, Flum, Rosenthal and Caligiuri are to much and he could never achieve the same perforances again.

Press is already speculating that former Freiburg manager and present Cameroon coach, Volker Finke is in line to take the vacant seat.

President Fritz Keller released a statement today: "First of all i want to thank Christian for all the work he has done here. Last season we came close to a sensational performance, Champions League. But that's life and at goes on, we need to find a new manager. We will not rush in taking this decision, it is an important one and need serious thinking. I don't want to speculate on Finke, he has a job right now and we will see. Yes, he is a candidate, but there are also other coaches we are thinking about."
Good luck!

Jurgen Kohler was presented today as the new Freiburg manager. Former german international with 105 caps and 2 goals, he spend most of his playing career at Juventus Turin and Borussia Dortmund, wich he won the Champions League.

First words: It is a great opportunity for me and i intend to do the best that i can to continue Christians' work. He has a done a very good job here and i don't want to dissapoint anyone.

Yes, the club has lost a lot of players since last season, but we have a good squad now and we need to do our best with what we have.
