Portuguese legend, Luís Figo, aged 41, has announced that he will be returning to football with immediate effect, having signed a one year contract with oil rich Arab club Al Ain. The appointment comes after previous manager Quique Flores having failed in his efforts to get a new contract at the club, with an inside source claiming that he was very heavy-handed in his approach.

Figo has told Emirati journalists that he and the chairman discussed their vision for the club prior to the contract talks, and they had both agreed that with the finances at hand for the club, top players would be the target in the transfer market. However, with the league rules stating that only four players from outside of the country are allowed to be selected in the matchday sqauds, the former Portugal international will have to choose his players carefully, whilst making the most of the domestic talent available.

There shouldn't be too much in the way of the clubs effort in signing some of the top players, with a reported £40 million budget on offer to the new manager. However the reputation of the team could be troubling, and this could be the one downfall. It is not clear whether the new man will go for players with big reputations and experience to their names, or whether he will go for lesser known players in an attempt to keep the ambition at a suitable standard within the club, but either way, the fans will be expecting a third successive title this season, and Figo is the man who has to deliver it.

Haha, good luck lad! The legend Figo back in management:P
Good luck :)
Good luck!
Another Arab story! This time the UAE. You get to play one more foreigner than in the Qatar Stars League, but how many foreigners can you register?

Bastos and Gyan listed as Figo looks to reshape squad

Al Ain manager Luís Figo has taken a big step in shaping his squad - transfer listing two of the squads key players, in Asamoah Gyan and Michel Bastos. Bastos, who had played for the likes of Lyon and Schalke before joining the Arab side, has told Emirati journalists that he is not too disappointed, because it should mean that he will be going back to Europe, which he calls "the home of football".

Gyan, who is a regular starter in the Ghanaian national side, had played for Premier League side Sunderland, along with some other teams, and the striker is a little more upset about this news, claiming that Figo hadn't given him a chance to prove himself since the Portuguese manager joined the side, and he has said that if that is how the boss is going to be, he would rather leave than stay under his management.
Two big players for you there. Sure it'll pay off though + I bet they have enormous wages, especially Gyan
Two good players who joined an obscure team for moolah, good riddance :P
Nothing wrong with picking up a big check. I'm sure you have better plans for the foreigner slots, though. What's the state of the squad in general?
Good luck Adam! :)
