Swaine hired as Wigan Boss

This evening, Joe Swaince has been announced as the new Wigan Athletic boss following the recent departure of Roberto Martinez. The FA Cup holders confirmed the appointment after weeks of speculation and now Swaine is set to take charge before they kick off the new season in the Championship.

Swaine is delighted with the chance to hopefully take Wigan straight back to the Premiership after a disappointing end to the 2012/2013 season which saw them relegated along with Reading and Q.P.R. He is looking to bring in several new signings and had been given a very reasonable budget of £15 Million. Swaine says that he will look to increase squad depth due to European commitments in the new season also.

Wigan Athletic- Pre-season Report

Wigan had a very eventful pre-season campaign playing four matches, drawing one, losing one and winning two. Plenty of positives were taking out of the fixtures and they also managed to bring a few new faces in.

They began drawing 3-3 with Zenit St Petersburg at the DW Stadium before two victories away against Harrogate and Swindon Town. 4-1 and 2-0 respectively. they ended pre season with a disappointing result against Levante at home where they lost 1-0 but Swaine seemed impressed with the new signings and the way his team were playing ahead of their season opener away at Milwall.

All the transfer done deals will follow this report as we get ready for what will be an exciting 2013/2014 season in the Sky Bet Championship.
Pretty good results in pre-season, mate, congrats'!
