Rafael Benitez leaves Chelsea

Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has decided to leave Chelsea following the end of his contract. The Spaniard was called in as an ‘interim’ manager following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo in November. Benitez, who led Chelsea to their first ever Europa League title in May, is said to be relishing the chance to leave Chelsea and ‘get on with his life’.

It is no secret that Chelsea fans had been against the decision to let Benitez manage at Chelsea, and fans celebrated the departure of Benitez on various social media sites. However, Benitez had managed to win over some Chelsea fans, with messages of ‘Thanks for everything!’ on the official Chelsea FC Facebook page.

In the mean time, Rafael Benitez looks as though he is set to take over the Napoli job in southern Italy, after Walter Mazzarri left to join fallen giants Inter Milan. Benitez is reportedly set to have over €40 million to spend on players this summer, as Napoli begin to restrengthen ahead of losing Uruguayan Edinson Cavani to super-rich Paris Saint-Germain.

Back in west London however, Chelsea look set to appoint the self-appointed ‘Special One’. Jose Mourinho, who has been having a torrid time at Real Madrid over the last few months, has been heavily hinting at a return to Stamford Bridge where he gained almost all of his early career success. This would certainly mean great things for Chelsea fans, as they prepare to see a club legend rejoin, and they will be hoping that he can recreate his success that he had 9 years ago.

Nice start, will be following
Zapdos: Cheers mate, :)

Jose Mourinho: Benitez hints at Stamford Bridge return

Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez has added to the speculation surrounding Jose Mourinho's possible return to Stamford Bridge this summer. Mourinho, 50, has been widely tipped to leave his post with Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the season and return to the club where he was manager between 2004 and 2007.

Speaking on Tuesday, Benitez, who left Chelsea when the campaign ended last week, said: "The next year there will be another manager. I think everybody knows who will be here.” When pressed directly on whether Mourinho would take over, the former Liverpool boss said: "It's not my concern what will happen here next season, I'm just concentrating on doing my job."

At a Real press conference on Tuesday, Mourinho denied he was trying to provoke the La Liga club into sacking him so he could receive a substantial pay-off. "I've considered staying," said the former Porto and Inter Milan boss, who took over at the Bernabeu on 31 May, 2010. He added that he felt the media were responsible for a lot of the stories surrounding his future.

"The fans think what you - the press - sell them," he said. "To make things clear, I'll tell you that I'll be paid until my last working day here. I don't want even one euro more the day I decide that I'm not going to continue.” Mourinho gave a strong indication that he wants to return to England - and to Stamford Bridge in particular - after Real's Champions League exit to Borussia Dortmund last week.

"I know in England I am loved," said Mourinho. "I know I am loved by some clubs, especially one."
His agent, Jorge Mendes, has also told Italy's Radio Mana Mana that there is an "80%" chance the Portuguese will return to Chelsea. Mourinho, who is contracted until 2016 at the Bernabeu, remains Chelsea's most successful manager with two Premier League titles and three domestic
cup wins during his spell at the London club.

Mourinho joins Chelsea

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has today been announced as the new Chelsea manager. The Portuguese manager will return for his second spell at the West London club, after he famously won 2 league titles in a row during his first stint. Mourinho had become unhappy at Real Madrid, after reports of a dressing room rift between some of the players were made public.

José Mourinho has also insisted he is returning to Chelsea a better and more mature manager than when he left in 2007, claiming he wants to stay at the club "for a long time" after agreeing a four-year contract. Mourinho, who will be officially introduced next Monday, completed the formalities of his protracted move in London on Monday and insisted he was ready to "marry again" after agreeing a return to the club he professes to "love" following a five-minute conversation with the owner, Roman Abramovich.

Mourinho is set to become the highest paid manager in the Premier League with a reported £8.5m salary, and brings with him two members of his backroom staff, the fitness coach Rui Faria and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, who worked at Stamford Bridge during his previous three-year spell, when Chelsea won two league titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups. The technical assistant, José Morais, also follows from Spain while Steve Holland, Christophe Lollichon and Chris Jones will remain from the existing coaching setup.

Mourinho, 50, left Chelsea six years ago after his relationship with Abramovich had seriously deteriorated, but claims he has matured following successful spells at Internazionale and Real Madrid, saying his bond with the owner has always been strong.

Asked if hoped to build a long-term project at Chelsea, he said: "I hope so. When you look at the profile of the Chelsea squad I think it's what they need at this time. It's very important for this club and very important for the balance of the squad, but it's a young squad with a lot of talent and I think they need stability to reach a high point of their evolution and for their careers. They need stability, stability I hope I can give them and between me, the owner and of course the club, we have no doubts about what we want to do and the approach we want to have.”
Good luck mate :)
