How to get the best out of a AMC

Struggling to get my AMC's to perform to their ability

I usually play a 4-5-1 formation for the simple fact that I've never been able to get my AMC's to perform effectively. I would like to play with a magic number 10 as I love that role in a team.

I've been teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City with some of the best number 10's in the world but can't seem to get them to perform.

I usually try with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Has anyone had any real success and if so how? What role did you give him and the surrounding players?
I have some pretty good success with it but I'm using Real Madrid. My main AMC's are Isco and Juan Mata.

This is the formation I usually use. I like the players behind my AMC to usually sit back a bit so that he can be the main playmaker. He sprays it out wide, looks for the target man and if there's no options he has support right behind him.

I use these instructions and they've worked great for me, so there has not been any need to change them yet.

I should also mention that sometimes when I am leading in a tough game I bring my AMC back to a CM so that he can help keep the ball more.

These are the player instructions for the AMC, short and simple. I play him as an advanced playmaker set to attack. I think the trequartista gives them too much freedom, the enganche hasn't worked for me much and neither has the shadow striker. An advantage I have is that I use Edinson Cavani as a target man so with his aerial ability it helps gift my AMC the ball.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I think it must be the way I'm setting up the players round him then. For example I've been trying to have 2 CM behind him, one box to box the other CM defend. I also haven't played around with his instructions much, I'll have a go

Very effective for me but it depends on who you have in that role. I have Cavani so it could be a bit of an advantage.
AMC role works fine with an advanced forward with roaming. i use 2 CM behind him, a CM defend and a BWM defend. wingers are AP/Wingers support.
