Well, I have an idea. If chat problems persist for you after clearing cache/cookies/etc in your browser or after trying other browsers too, then it might be a DNS cache issue. In that case, you could try flushing or changing your DNS servers (more effective).

To flush DNS, see this tutorial. If flushing doesn't help, then go for the next option.

To change DNS, I recommend switching either to Open DNS or Google DNS. Configure your network settings to use the following IP addresses as your DNS servers.

Open DNS (my personal choice)
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Google DNS
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

If you don't know how to change your DNS servers, follow this tutorial (has pictures).

Hope this helps.
still no success, i have flushed the dns but not changed it. not sure on how even through the tutorial and unkeen on doing anything I need to keep note of, e.g. writing old dns on paper, as im very unorganised and probably would need to change back and would be unable to hahaha

Normally you won't have to change back because it's unlikely that your internet connection is manually configured. Usually you have automatic settings there.

If you read the instructions on the Google DNS site and you'll see what I mean.
Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.

I'm personally using Open DNS servers regardless of ISP.
thankyou stam, it has worked !!
