February/March 2014

Forgot to do a February update, so i'm just going to provide a quick rundown of the results :)
We've only lost 2 games in 2 months, but we've also dropped a lot of points by drawing games we really should have won...

Player of The Month: Luis Suarez

Continuing to Impress up top, Suarez once again takes home our Player of the Month award!

Young Player of The Month: Coutinho

Another award for Coutinho, as he continues to settle in English football, and demonstrate his worth to the team.

I was informed at my backroom meeting that I need to take 18 points from these games to ensure Europa League qualification...

Season Run-In 2013/2014

With a critical last 6 games in the league, we faced a lot of pressure...how did we deal with it?

Tottenham 0-3 Liverpool
Luis Suarez (26, 36, 54)
Luis Suarez (9.6)
We started well; a 3-0 victory over overwhelming favourites Spurs. Luis Suarez was sublime, netting a hattrick to lead us to victory
This win saw us consolidate 4th, 4 points ahead of 5th place Aston Villa, and 7 behind Spurs.

Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa
Mamadou Sakho (45)
Luis Suarez (52)
Raheem Sterling (8.0)
One week later, we faced Aston Villa at Anfield in a European 6-pointer. We started brightly, passing the ball well, and creating some half-chances, but on 28 minutes, Coutinho picked up an injury, and Iago Aspas entered the fray in his place, with some carefully chosen words of encouragement in his ear...Villa were playing dirty, with Pastore picking up a knock, but he recovered without needing substituted. Right on the stroke of half time, Sakho scored from a Pastore corner, and things were looking good. Suarez scored his 16th of the season on 52 minutes, and from then on we never looked like throwing it away.
This win saw us close the gap on Spurs to four points, and we moved 6 points clear of 5th! So far, so good.

7 Points from our next 4 games would guarantee Champions League football...

Cardiff 1-2 Liverpool
Iago Aspas (62)
Javier Pastore (65)
Iago Apsas (7.3)
We started poorly here, but the introduction of Daniel Sturridge on 50 minutes seemed to anchor the side somewhat, and 2 goals in quick succession sealed the result, and left us needing 4 points in our last 3 games...

Crystal Palace 3-2 Liverpool
Javier Pastore (33)
Luis Suarez (59)
Javier Pastore (7.4)
An agonising defeat, and one which was a definite setback in our quest for European qualification. We have two games to secure qualification now...

Liverpool 3-0 West Ham
Daniel Agger (6)
Steven Gerrard (13)
Coutinho (76)
Steven Gerrard (88)
Steven Gerrard playing on the right wing because of injuries, was the inspiration behind this win, which saw us guarantee Champions League qualification, after Man Utd drew with Arsenal.

Liverpool 2-0 Norwich
Luis Suarez (20, 90)
Luis Suarez (8.8)
A great game from everyone saw our season end on a high :)

World Cup Callups

Summer Signings: 2014

In preparation for playing in the Champions League next season, I spent my budget on 2 new players, to strengthen areas where we had been lacking last season.
First-Team Signings.

Alex Sandro - Porto - £11 Million.

The Explosive left-back freshens up what was an ageing position, with Cissokho leaving the club after his loan deal expired, coming in to provide a spark from our defensive line.

Hulk - Zenit - £29.5 Million

Joining up with his Brazilian compatriots Sandro and Lucas, Hulk brings firepower and strength to our front line, and the move allows Raheem Sterling to go elsewhere to get loan experience, after not playing much last season. Fans are bound to be excited about the addition of yet another talented attacking player.

Fixtures: August 2014

August 2014

A good start in the league, only losing one game, in a month which also saw us progress in the Champions League after a tricky tie against Valencia.

Stoke 2-0 Liverpool
Simon Mingolet (7.5)

Liverpool 2-0 Valencia
Luis Suarez (32)
Coutinho (85)
Coutinho (8.4)

Hulk (35)
Glen Johnson (70)
Coutinho (7.5)

Valencia 2-2 Liverpool
Coutinho (29)
Javier Pastore (69)
Javier Pastore (7.8)

Liverpool 2-1 Huddersfield
Lucas (13)
Steven Gerrard (15)
Glen Johnson (7.6)

Player of The Month: Javier Pastore

A solid start to the season for Pastore, notching goals and assists, and turning in some excellent performanes.

Young Player of The Month: Coutinho

Coutinho carries on last seasons form, looking like he'd never been away!

Liverpoool Top Scorers/Assists
Top Scorer: 5 Players (1)
Most Assists: 4 Players (1)

Further Signing: Joao Moutinho - £34 Million over 48 Months, £6 Million up front

A replacement for the ageing Steven Gerrard, and a tutor for Jordan Henderson, Moutinho signals the last of Liverpool's transfer dealings for the season, strenghtening their midfield, which had been suspect for the month of August. Linking up with fellow former Porto players, Moutinho looks to have settled quickly.
Really impressed with the signings keep up the good work !

Hey, I just noticed that the mighty Toffees won the League! Hell yes!

September 2014

We collapsed in the last two games, although they were admittedly hard games. There were some very positive results though, so i'm not entirely disheartened.

Fulham 0-1 Liverpool
Luis Suarez (68)
Coutinho (7.4)

Wolfsburg 1-2 Liverpool
Javier Pastore (20)
Steven Gerrard (38)
Steven Gerrard (7.4)

Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle
Hulk (51)
Javier Pastore (79(
Daniel Sturridge (91)
Javier Pastore (8.5)

Liverpool 0-2 Manchester United

Manchester City 3-0 Liverpool

Player of The Month: Javier Pastore

Another Solid Month, as Pastore further confirmed his partnership with Coutinho as one of the most effective in the league.

Young Player of The Month: Coutinho

Similarly to Pastore, Coutinho continues to impress.

League Table, Scorer Chart and Assists Chart

Liverpoool Top Scorers/Assists
Top Scorer: Luis Suarez/Hulk (2)
Most Assists: 4 Players (1)
Good results at the start of the month but unlucky about the last two games although they were tough matches.
Pastore is doing quality so hopefully he can keep it up and help get you up the table!
