Im currently Liverpool, just finished my first season. Looking to sign a first team/backup keeper to compete with mignolet.
- Ter Stegen - 22 - £8.5 mil / 43k
- Zieler - 25 - £5.5 mil / 41k
ter Stegen wouldn't really be backup, perhaps Zieler would but if he won't play often you'll want an older keeper so he won't be lOsing development.
I had both at Man City.
ter Stegen should be 1st choice. Absolutely quality, but from my experience, very expensive.
Zieler hates being a back-up, and that's what I used him as. My opinion is he is not good enough to be first team.
My advice would be to keep Mignolet and not buy a new goalie. FM isn't like real life in players needing competition, and my goalkeepers have rarely become injured and never become complacent.
If my keeper is 3* + then I simply buy/loan or extend the contract of a 2-2.5* goalkeeper. Alternatively, bring one of your academy's goalkeepers through the system.
I've had Fabianski as a back-up and bought a guy called Michael Agazzi as a back-up for £2 Million. I rarely had to use either of them, but they are sufficient players and never complain about the lack of first team football. I also have Martinez as a third, just in case.
Thanks guys, went for Ter Stegen as it was a bargain. Play him in the Prem and CL games and Mignolet in FA and League Cups. Both happy so far so fingers crossed.
