The former Argentina defender was the surprise - and somewhat controversial choice - to take over from Nigel Adkins at St Mary's in January.
Already well on their way to Premier League survival when Pochettino was appointed, the Saints won four of his 16 games in charge to finish five points above the drop zone.
Three of those wins came against Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool, helping to counter defeats to QPR and Newcastle.
And ahead of the club's trip to Scotland for pre-season friendlies, the Saints boss made it perfectly clear he will do things his way, whatever the consequences.
He said: "I'm not worried about it.
"On the first day that I arrived at Southampton, I was fully aware that it was my team, my decisions and my preparations.
"Now I'm more aware of that - but I'm used to it. I am a manager and I'm fully aware that is the case with this job."
Pochettino is eager to stamp his mark on the side by bringing in several more new faces, while trying to fend off interest from other clubs for his own star players - like striker Rickie Lambert and midfielder Adam Lallana.
Croatian defender Dejan Lovren, 23, has already joined from Lyon and Pochettino said: "We're very clear about our goals and Lovren was one of them.
"He is quality as a player, has a presence on the field and he's good at solving difficult situations."
Southampton have also signed Victor Wanyama from Celtic and also Dani Osvaldo, who is now loaned out at Serie A side Juventus
