The Pentagon Challenge

#1 - The Setup.

So as you will see, standard manager set up. Sunday League reputation, unemployed.

Just a standard setup. Enough players and enough countries. No England, as it's more of a challenge :D

------------------------------------------------
Obviously this is just like a "setup" kind of update. Another one each day possibly 2 at weekends. I would also like to point out this isn't going to have a story to it as such, more of an updatey thing with visual stuff and a bit of text :>. Thanks.
Good start! Will be good to see how you get on, and where you start off. Good luck.

#2 - Down At The Job Centre.

I applied for every job available to me at the time. From that Korean team that has 41 fans to Colorado Rapids, who have the very rapid Marvell Wynne.
From the 14 jobs I had applied to, 4 got back to me. Witbank Spurs, Bucheon FC, African Warriors and United FC.
I attended 3 of the 4 interviews, United FC being the ones left out, mainly because I do not like the name. Each team seemed to take a keen interest as I talked to them, however African Warriros, the team I was interested in at first, rejected me. It was now a battle between Bucheon and Witbank Spurs for my signature.
Bucheon were the richer of the two, however probably worse. I really had no intention of starting in Korea, seemed tough.
So that leaves one team. Witbank Spurs. A bright colour scheme, and an young team is what attracted me to them. They looked like they had potential. Founded in 2000, they have never won a trophy. Obviously this was going to change.
£1,400p/w. Not bad.
The one year contract was something I expected, being new to this manager lark and all. However, I hoped to show them immidietley I was the man for the job.
-----------------------------------------------------
A lot of writing in this one, probably the bits with more "story" in it. :)
Next Episode: The Squad, Staff and League Preview.
Thanks a lot for reading guys! :)

#3 - July: Our Team?

So after accepting the Witbank Spurs job, I met with the Chairman. Just routine stuff really. i then met with my assistant, to see what he would like to do around the place. They seemed friendly.
After the meetings, I got to meet the first team squad. We had 1 or 2 stand out players I reckon. Sici Shelmbe and Humphrey Khoza. Both players who had immense ability considering the league, and ones I would be relying on for good performances week in, week out. However, we did lack strength in depth, worryingly in Goalkeeper. Criminal. 3 is Ideal, 2 is manageable, but 1. No.
This didn't stop me getting straight to work on the team. I went straight ahead in strengthining the full back area and Attacking Midfield spot. Sadly, good goalies are hard to come by, especially ones that wanted to play for us.
So, Ntamo and Mototo come in. Ntamo is a player i'm really excited for, he has electrifying pace which really sets our pacy front line alight.
This brings me on to our tactic, the main tactic will be a 4-2-3-1 Fluid, Attacking formation. We press high and get stuck in, while retaining possesion while on the attack, flowing the move, getting bodies forward. It requires a great deal of stamina, and determination. It still needs tweaking, however i feel it is ok at the moment.

The matches, Tough tests!

We played 4 games this month. 2 top league sides and 2 non league sides. All stern tests. We started a game against the MP Black Aces, where we took the lead at 3-2 however in the final 15 minutes they showed the quality and thrusted on. This was a shame for us, as i feel we had been the better team. The second game, despite the scorline, we were good. We showed our team performance and played solidly, just a couple of lapses in concentration at the back.
However, our final two games were awful. We literally threw away all the work we had. We went behind to both teams at the break and thanks to superb performances from Sici, we pegged it back to win the games by a slender margin.
Manager Awards:
Player Of The Month: Sici Shelmbe - 5 Goals in 4 Games and single handedley winning us games, he has proven to be indespensible this early on.
Game Of The Month: 3-2 vs Shooting Stars: Thanks to some individual brilliance, we produced a late late comeback to win!

#3 - August - Deadline Day Mayhem!

So with Pre Season over and done with, we had 14 days to prepare for our first League game.
Saturday, 24 August 2013 - African Wariorrs vs Witbank Spurs

We dominated possesion, had more shots, but our finishing cost us. It was painful to watch at times how bad we were at finishing. A new striker was needed before the next game, fast. Luckily, we had a week.
Saturday, 31 August 2013 - Witbank Spurs vs Black Lepoards

We dominated possesion again, and yet again our finishing let us down. New boy Leonardo Novo, who had flew in from Uruguay just 3 hours ago, was chucked in the deep end. Safe to say he wasn't expecting it and didn't play as well as he can. Kind of a dumb decision by me, I think. However, today was deadline day. We had plenty more to be doing than crying over a loss. Firstly, however we had a tactic to make.
Our old one wasn't giving us the attacking play we needed, so I dropped one of the MC's and turned the AMC to a ST. Sadly, we aren't very familiar with it yet but it will come over time. Hopefully, this one will work.
Now onto the signings, we had 6 hours, and I made the most of them. 4 players were brought in, 3 South Africans and a Brazillian.
I was happy with the signings we made on the 31st. Some experience and some quality players.
However, we had created a new problem. Wages. We were £5,814p/w over the £18,000 budget. Not good. I had to demote some of the first team and added them to "Sell or Release." We needed money back, fast.

Transfer Overview:
8 players in, 7 players out. (So Far.)
