This will be a diary of a challenge my friend chose for me.. To keep Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and lead them to glory!
Any extra challenges, tips, questions etc. during this game is welcome in comments :)

This is my very first Football Manager story.. Thought I would try it out!

My foundation for a tactic is an attacking style of a 4-2-3-1 which has worked great for me in several other games.

As backup tactics I have a 4-1-2-2-1 and a defenside 4-2-2-2.
Pre-season Summary

Results:
Yeowil (ENG) vs. Crystal Palace (Friendly)
0-4
MoM : Marouane Chamakh - 8.8

MoM : Marouane Chamakh - 9.6

Crystal Palace vs. Rangers (SCO) (Friendly)

MoM : Jason Puncheon - 7.4

Bromley (ENG) vs. Crystal Palace (Friendly)

MoM : Barry Bannan - 9.0

Transfers in:
Jesse Lingard - From Man Utd, 50% wage. For some depth on the wings if Jason Puncheon / Tom Ince gets injured.

Borja - From Getafe, 80K£. Extra strength on the defensive midfield.

Transfers out:
Lewis Price - To Motherwell, 220K£. Fringe player who would not be used. Might as well get some air in the budget.

Injuries:
Dwight Gayle - Bruised head - Out for 6-8 days

Best player of the month:
Jason Puncheon - Average of 8.48

Other Awards:
None

Summary:
A quite decent pre-season. Having avoided serious injuries for key players. The progress in tactics training could have been higher though. As well as I would have liked a win against Rangers.

Injuries:

Stuart O'Keefe - Strained ankle ligaments - 5-6 weeks
Jonathan Parr - Thigh strain - 2-3 weeks

Best player of the month:
Kagisho Dikgacoi - Average of 7.88

Other Awards:

Summary:
Quite a disappointing loss to rivals Brighton on Capital One Cup. Especially on penalties. The big sinner was Joel Ward, who could not get enough power behind the ball to pass the goalie.
Other than that, a good draw with Liverpool and a loss against United. Better than I feared at the beginning of the season. And the West Bromwich draw at home, being dominated.

The injury for Chamakh hit me hard in the front. Dwight Gayle can't seem to find the goal scoring form.

Summary:
Another dissapointing month. Stacking up 3 losses and a ton of injuries yet again. Will the pain ever stop.
On the positive side, I asked the the board for a larger wage budget to attract higher profile players, and my wage budget was in the red.
They granted me 220K£ for wage budget!!!
