Starting a career mode with my supported side Yeovil Town. Have shyed away from them so far on FM as I understand the enormity of the challenge represented by them. For a club like Yeovil to be in the Championship, a division below the Premiership, is astonishing. Its the highest level that the club has ever been. Don't just take my word for it though, pre-season and we are already being deservedly written off (media prediction is 24th)...

Agreed with the board that my seasons target would be to just stay in the division, as it will be for the next couple of seasons. Decided to keep the backroom staff such as Terry Skiverton (Skivo) and Darren Way as they know the club inside-out.

Squad

The squad is barely able to compete at this level, but that's down to budget more than anything. Everton duo Lundstram & Duffy are the best players at the club alongside contracted Joe Edwards & Byron Webster. Ishmael Miller is my top earner at just over £3,000 and should be our main goal threat.

Transfer Activity

A million pounds for Luke Ayling is the biggest transfer fee that the club has received. Probably my favourite player at the club but money talks and it would allow me to re-invest across the board. Jordan Fauque from French side La Berrichone was his replace. The 21 year old was on the books of Toulouse and is one for the future, so will battle with Matteo Lanzoni for a first team place. Scout feels he's "a good League one player"... but that's okay as we are only really a mediocre League One club!

Jonathan Obika was available for merely 87k from Tottenham, and has already joined the club on loan 452 times in his short career (4 to be exact). 23 year old striker with a good physical presence, £2,300 p/w a him is expensive but for a player I like, I don't mind. Rob Kiernan from Wigan again someone with Yeovil loan experience in 2011 and has been bought back to the club. A lot made, not a lot spent.

August

Not in print screen, but first game was a 2-1 win at home vs Barnsley. Shane Duffy & Kevin Dawson with the goals on the opening day.

So as expected, a tough start for us with a lack of goals (again, expected). Barnsley will be down at the bottom with us so was good to get a win against them. A point with Ipswich was one gained but otherwise a tough month. Kevin Dawson (7.25) the stand-out performer with the only average over 7, morale already low and work to do.

September see's three games at home against promotion candidates. Brighton, Wigan and Leicester making the trip down to Huish Park before we go on the road to Huddersfield. Would take 4 points from those 4 games now to be honest!

Bournemouth 3-1 YEOVIL TOWN
Grant (61)
Found myself three down at half time with Tokelo Rantie making fun of my defense. Consolidated in the second half and Grant poked home.

YEOVIL TOWN 0-0 Ipswich Town

Quite an even contest with a frustrated Ipswich picking up a number of bookings. Hayter with the chance to steal the points in injury time but fluffed his lines from 12 yards.

Middlesbrough 3-1 YEOVIL TOWN

Miller (88)

Replica of the Bournemouth game. Table topping Middlesbrough in a comfortable three goal lead by half time. Miller sparring some blushes for us late in the game.

YEOVIL TOWN 0-5 Reading (C1C - 2nd Round)

Yeah, this competition isn't my priority at all. Kept the score respectable with a couple of my youth squad starting, but three goals in the last ten minutes made things look worse than they really were.

Doncaster 2-0 YEOVIL TOWN

Disappointing defeat this one. Never got going in the game what-so-ever and Donny scored in either half. Team meeting required after this result.

October

Charlton 2-1 YEOVIL TOWN

Obika (40)

A much better performance, but ultimately 0 points against two major relegation candidates. Obika's slick finish giving us a lead but the second half performance petered away and Wilbraham scored two late, heart-breaking goals.

YEOVIL TOWN 1-1 Burnley
Miller (41)

Solid draw against a decent side in Burnley. Changed my style in this game due to my league position. Less of the Guardiola ticky-tacky and more playing off of the big striker. Miller obliged and scored on the day, Danny Ings grabbing an early second half equaliser for the visitors.

YEOVIL TOWN 2-0 Birmingham
Obika (2, 10)

First win in 8! (I think... wasn't counting!), Obika with two classy finishes but should have had 4 or 5 on the day. Miller and Ralls on top form too. Birmingham applied late pressure but the 4-6-0 formation saw us through!

Sheffield Wed 3-2 YEOVIL TOWN
Miller (21), Loovens (og, 86)

Disappointing to lose to Sheffield Wed, although they're a top half side we showed good fight in the game and just conceded at the wrong times. Miller and Obika combination finally showing something however which is promising.

So all in all an average start. Was always going to be difficult for us in this division but we have showed competitiveness in most games. Tactical change in October showed improvement with a more direct style approach that will be took into the rest of the season. Top performers are as expected, Obika making a decent start to his 5th Yeovil stint. Marek Stech however in goal is sorely missed and I cannot await his return, especially as the club has already maxed out it's loan capacity from other clubs, and Carlo Cudicini is the best avaliable free!

November see's us go up against teams all from the top-half of the table so I can't see us jumping out of relegation quite yet. Ishmael Miller also ineligible to play against his parent club Forest which won't help the cause!
