RCD Mallorca S.A.D. - Building a Spanish Giant

This Story

Hey FM scout again, it's mpejkrm. I did do my World Cup Challenge story for a little bit but I want to get through that a lot quicker and couldn't find the right update style so I decided to move to a club story. This club story I'll be doing is with RCD Mallorca S.A.D., in the Liga Adelante, the second division of Spanish football. The goal of this story is to return to La Liga after one season and eventually challenge for Champions League spots. Thank you all for reading and following this story!

RCD Mallorca Announce New Manager

Goal have learned that RCD Mallorca will announce 25 year-old American Mitch Collins as their new manager today at a press conference.

RCD Mallorca of the Spanish second division will announced 25 year-old American Mitch Collins as their new manager today, Goal have learned, replacing Jose Luis Oltra.

The 25 year-old is delving into his first managerial role. He has spent his last several years studying at the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis, USA.

23 year-old winger Emilio Nsue has told Goal he is looking forward to playing under Collins. "He knows his stuff," Nsue told reporters. "The whole team is looking forward to having him as a manager. We are all very excited."

Mallorca, who were relegated from La Liga last season, are considered odds-on favorites to be promoted back this season.
Keep Nsue, and if you need a GK, look at Mario from Racing, solid goalkeeper :)

Liga Adelante Preview: RCD Mallorca

Goal are counting down to the Liga Adelante season by previewing each team in the league. Today, we'll visit the Balearic Islands to take a look at R.C.D. Mallorca.

Israeli striker Tomer Hemed is expected to play a key role in Mallorca's promotion hopes

Mallorca underachieved last season in La Liga, finishing 18th and being relegated, ending a 16-year stay in the top division. Hopes are high from the camp this season, as the club is seen as odds-on favorites to emerge as champions from this season's Liga Adelante, the second tier of Spanish football.

This year, Mallorca will be led by a new manager, a relative unknown in 25 year-old American Mitch Collins. Collins, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, has spent the past few years studying at American university, the University of Minnesota. He has no prior coaching experience, and some Mallorca fans see the hiring as poorly timed.

However, Collins has a good squad to work with. Collins' preferred formation is a 4-3-3, but he also runs an unorthodox 4-2-2-2 and 4-1-1-3-1 at times.

Now a quick look at the first team squad.

There is only one real team in Mallorca and that is C.D. Constància. The team you are managing is the evil empire.

Good luck with the story :)

Everyone: Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed the start. Preseason update on the way.
loving the start, i will be following keep Hemed always does good for them on my save

Pre-Season Update

We finished off a very successful pre-season with three straight victories. Overall, the squad played very well, and I am impressed in how it turned out.

We opened up with a hard loss to Premier League giants Manchester City, which is expected. Striker Sergio Aguero scored four goals for Manchester City, so it was a pretty bad game. Next we took on Hoffenheim, and we fell down quick 2 - nil. However, Gerard Moreno scored a header to get us within reach and then Liassine Cadamuro scored a brilliant free kick to tie it up.

Our next three matches were never really in doubt. We dominated from start to finish all three of them, controlling tempo, scoring off of corners and set pieces and dominating the possession game. Moreno, Emilio Nsue, Alejandro Alfaro, and Alex Geijo all scored two goals over these three games. Tomer Hemed played in four games and scored zero times, as speculation over whether he will re-sign with us intensifies.

Player of the Pre-Season

Gerard Moreno, Forward

The 21-year old really impressed with three goals and two assists plus numerous other key passes and headers throughout the pre-season. With speculation over Tomer Hemed's future, Moreno really made a name for himself this pre-season.
a pretty good pre-season, but a tough defeat against City :(

August 2013 Update

A very good solid first month in charge, going undefeated and currently sitting top of the table. The lads have been playing very well and everyone is meshing and team chemistry is very high.

Our first match was a bit of a letdown, Nsue opened the scoring early but we allowed a late second half equalizer while allowed Sabadell to salvage a point from a match we really should have won. Against Murcia, we started slow, allowing an early goal, but got back on track thanks to Hemed's double and Generelo's wonderful free kick goal.

Hemed came out on fire against Sporting, with a hat trick within 30 minutes, and an own goal from Sporting's goalkeeper allowed us to push it 4-0 just out of halftime. However, we struggled to control the counter attack in the second half and allowed three goals to get it close at 4-3 but Nsue put the game away late with his brilliant goal across the net.

Tomer Hemed, Forward

Was it ever really in doubt? After a rough pre-season, with speculation abound that he wants to leave and move to a bigger club, Hemed netted five goals in three games and just played brilliantly. As such, we extended his contract extension clause in his contract, so he is now under contract through next season.
