August has been a weird month for me, I haven’t quite got used to working every day again, as its been a while. The Start of the season has been an eventful one we have had 3 matches this month against Hull, Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
Our first match against Hull City was a close encounter in which we lost 2-1 Sone Aluko put them ahead but we were by far the better team in my opinion and it showed When Tekkers (Christian Benteke) levelled the score for us but it didn’t last long as 20 minutes Shane Long scored their winner yet again against the run of play. I think the only reason hull beat us was because they bullied us with dangerous tackled and robust challenges I made this known in the media questioning after words. Bruce apparently apologised.
Tony Pulis a man ive never really had much time for is now manager of Crystal Palace and we were anticipating a result that we believed could kick start off our season after narrowly missing out against Hull. They came to Villa Park on the back of a 3-0 hammering against Chelsea, so we knew confidence would be low, I set up the team to attack whenever we could. We started amazingly and was 2-0 up after only 6 minutes through Tekkers and Okore. Then we were 3-0 before the 20th minute when Alby (Marc Albrighton) scored. Before halftime both Tekkers and Okore bagged bagged another each to put themselves on a hat-trick. The Second half Palace parked the bus but finally gave in and succumbed to Benteke getting his hat-trick with a nicely taken penalty after Moxey had barged Alby in the back. My players were tireless all looking to score but Palace managed a late consolation goal in injury time to make the final score 6-1
Our third and final match in August was against West Ham United at the Boleyn ground. I had fond memories as a player playing against West Ham, and was hoping today would be the same, we came away with a well fought 2-2 draw with Tekkers bagging a brace
I would like to congratulate both Christian Benteke and Jores Okore on winning Player and Young Player Of The Month Awards respectively this month.
Marc Albrighton currently top the League’s assist chart and Benteke is currently the leader in the race for the golden boot with 6 goals. Albrighton has also won August’s Goal Of The Month Award after being pushed closely by Benteke.
Well all in all I have enjoyed my first month in charge and sitting 6th in the league although I had not realised how stressful and fatiguing it could be to be a manager but it is something I want to keep doing, ive found im not necessarily that bad it at but I want to prove that I can be a great manager. One day I’d love to return to Anfield and stand in the dugout helping players become legends.
