Waking Up From A Nightmare: An Ajax Story

As Johan Crujiff once said, Every disadvantage has its advantage. This was especially true to my life. I was a promising young footballer, flair, creativity, and technical skill. That is what everyone said about me. I was going to make it big they'd say, I was going to destroy defences all over the world. I did neither. Not because of no bullshit injury, not because of any difficult circumstances. I wasn't interested. I was bullied by every kid in the school. The reason? I turned down Ajax when I was only 8 to pursue my dream career, a Rugby League player. I had moved over to Hull at a very early stage in my life (12 years old). The rugby culture here is massive, Hull FC or Hull KR, black and white or red and white, and my dad was like that too. I was a true black and white. Hull FC through and through. It was never about Football.

Then the one tragedy happened in my life. This one deadly blow to my dreams. I was rejected by Rugby. The sport just "rejected" me. "Too small" they said. I gave up. I knew it was too late now. I was 14 years old and with a broken dream already.
With my broken dreams, we moved out of Hull, as the crime rate significantly increased, resulting in my father getting mugged. We moved to Amsterdam. I lost touch with Rugby. My memories of the sport wiped. - My life changed dramatically.
I was struggling in school. Not gonna lie. I couldn't get any grades which even remotley helped me. I got an A+ in English and PE, but failed everything else. Integration with other kids was difficult. I only spoke fluent English. Barely any Dutch. I was took away, into special tutoring, to learn to speak fluent Dutch.
Time flew by, and I hit 16. The year everything changed. My parents divorced and I got a new "dad." He was the coach of Ajax Amsterdam, the top football team in Holland. I went along to a "trial day" and failed to impress. Not like I wanted to. However, then I discovered "Video Games" - Football Manager 2005. Football Manager. Football. The sport I hate, I loved. I played this game more than anyone. I loved it. I could manage a team. I fell in love with management. And from then on, I knew my ambition.

My stepdad helped me with this goal. He got me some playing time at a FIFA considered club, and I impressed for a season, until I retired and took my badges at the incredibly young age of 22. I had the time of my life doing something I thought I hated. For the first time in my life, I studied for something important. I was obsessed.
I was putting in more hours on Football Manger and joined a unique academy for managers, where I was spotted by Ajax. I was signed up immidietley as assistant manager at Jong Ajax.
My life had changed forever. I knew it. Everybody saw it. I was a young manager, assistant manager at the reserve team of the best team in Holland. I was living a dream, not sure whether it was my dream, but it was a dream.
Life was going well, I was earning a solid £2k a week, and became the most succesful kid to graduate from my school. Not bad i'd say! I had a family, and a wife. My life was perfect - Or so it seemed.
I recieved a call from the chairman. I was nervous. Not sure what to expect. I had seen that Frank De Boer had resigned from the Ajax post, which was a shame for me, as he was a real help. But the call,
HH: Hello, Callum.
CG: Alright Boss, What do you want at this time?
HH: I was wondering if you are interested in taking on the role of Ajax Manager? You will get £8,250p/w and be expected to win the league. How does that sound?
I was set aback. My first instinct was to shout YES, and that is exactly what I did. Callum Gilbey - Ajax Manager
The dream I never thought come through did. And that is my life story in about 1000 words.

Well done to anyone who read that massive backstory! Please leave any feedback on what I will need to improve, as I know it isn't perfect

Waking Up From A Nightmare: An Ajax Story

1st day on the job as the new kid on the block, managing one of the most prestigious teams in Europe don't wanna face the chop.
I got straight down to buisiness in the transfer window. Identifying certain positions that need improving, and searching for players interested in being part of this revoloution as it is. In the end I ended up getting 4 lads in.

1: Kasper Kusk - 525k - No brainer. A top quality right winger for a minimal fee.
2: John Arne Riise - 200k - Experienced, done the rounds and played consistently well. Cheap and useful to rotate with Boilessen.
3: Stevie May - 250k - A bit of a project, I see a lot of potential in him, not much else to say, loaned back out for a year to St Johnstone.
4: Phillip Hosenier - 1.8m - Only 24 years old, he will fight it out to try and get a starting place with Kolbeinn Sigporrson.

So with the new transfers in the team, I needed to do some tictacs. I decided I want to play a fast, attacking, but rigid structure. I settled on a 4-1-1-3-1 formation, which is a bit unothordox but some of the best formations were like this, adaptable and attacking.

Now with the tactic out of the way, It was fast approaching game day. I received plenty of good luck messages from fans and mates alike.

Pre season was solid, if unspectacular. Nothing much to report as I didn't take charge of the games.
We entered the Johan Crujiff trophy with high expectations. It is safe to say we didn't deliver. No goals, and a god awful performance. We did have our spells, but we couldn't finish our chances. Changes needed to be made.
To my suprise, we had AZ again in the 1st game of the Eredevise, perfect chance to get revenge. We took it. We were clincal, fast, attacking and exactly how I like football to be played.
We moved into the Vitesse match and we expected to keep up the last games form, and we destroyed them. It was 5-1 to us at one point, but then we capitulated. Luckily, despite Blind being sent off, we held on to a 5-4 victory in an exciting game.
3rd game was a far cry from the entertainment of the last. It was a boring match and a 1-1 draw seemed right.
4th game was the same. Nothing happened to report.
5th game was against the Inform Roda JC, top of the league. We played brilliantly, coming off 2 draws, I wasn't exactly confident, but we were clincal, quick and sharp. The pace on the break was key.
Player Of The Month (Competetive Games Only!)
Kolbeinn Sigporrson
Games: 4(1) Goals: 5 Assists: 1
Kolbeinn was amazing. He started poorly in the AZ games but I stuck by him and he produced the goods. I hope his good form continutes!

Update 3: Champions League, It's not easy!
So, following on from the decent start to the season, we needed to stamp our authority on the league, we had to play top of the league and a team in the relegation battle. Perfect.
I decided to make 1 final signing, someone to shore up the defence and a top youngster, again, a Scandinavian. I don't think it was too bad for 375k.

We were given a very tough Champions League Group. A very harsh one too. We were drawnn with 3 of Europes elites. Napoli, Barcelona and CSKA Moscow. I am only aiming for 4 points in the group.

With all transfers out of the way, It was time for some on the pitch buisness. We faced league leaders FC Twente. It was definetley going to be a tough game, and it was, we were at 1-1 half time. I had a go at the lads and we stepped it up massively to win 4-1.

MOTM: Phillip Hosiner
Next up was the toughest game we could ever face. FC Barcelona. Messi, Neymar, Xavi, they have it all. I expected to be hammered. And we were. I don't mind though, we did play well and grab a goal at the Nou Camp.

MOTM: Daley Blind
3 days after a tough Barca match, we went on to face NAC Breda, a team without any real quality and lingering around the drop zone. We went in high on confidence and was 4-0 up at the break and looking confident. 2nd half, though, we didn't fall asleep. A truly amazing performance no matter what the opposition, and one that filled myself with confidence too.

MOTM: Kasper Kusk
I decided to rest the majority of the first team for this next game against Volendam, and it didn't affect us. It was a routine victory and we face a non league side in the next round.

MOTM: Davy Klaassen
Finally this month, we faced CSKA Moscow. The Russian champions (I think!) - We were expected to win and we failed. We were truly terrible. Nothing went our way, It's fair to say much improvment is needed in the Champions League.

MOTM: Phillip Hosiner
Player Of The Month
Phillip Hosiner: Games 6 - Goals 5 - Assists 4

The former Austria Wien striker has been on top form playing Right Winger for us! He has electrifying pace and a brilliant finish. His passing and creativity is top notch and he has been terrifying every Left back in his path.
League Table

It's tight at the top but a game in hand on 2nd and 3rd will help us a lot. We are also the only unbeaten team in the league, I hope it stays that way!!!
Tournemant Summary
Champions League Group H: 4th (Potential Finish 1st - 4th)

Thank you for reading this September update lads. Feedback is appricieated on how this cn be improved! :)
good job mate! one improvement would be to post a screenshot of the match details rather than just the result, as it is hard to read. but apart from that, this is very good.

fzemdegs: Thank you :) - I will look to improve that next time, however I now have my photoshop installed so the updates will be every 5/6 matches and in a graphic. :)
