This Is England, A Three Lions Story

So I'm going to be taking charge of England as myself, James Simpkins - Sunday League Footballer born on 24th February 1989 (Manchester United fan born in Northampton). I take charge right before the preliminary World Cup 2014 friendlies, I will post an update after these matches have taken place, so wish me luck!

Edit: This was originally a Sky Sports style post but I'm thinking of previous attempts at stories and realising that won't work for me, so I'll just use an update format, thanks!
Good luck!

World Cup Preliminaries

The friendlies are over, so here is the run down.

England 1-0 South Africa

Daniel Sturridge, 45

this game was managed during Hodgson's reign, so no details sorry.

Algeria 0-2 England

We attacked superbly in this game, Lallana and Sterling were a constant threat impressing me from the off, should have been 4-0 but hey ho.

England 2-1 Ecuador

Unfortunately Steven Gerrard got injured and it was noticeable straight away, he was the catalyst for the team this game and was sorely missed after a good 51 minutes, I started Caulker and Shaw, Caulker scored our first from a great header while he and Luke let in Ecuador's. Carrick saved the day with a fluke shot from 40 yards, stunning performance all round - more comforable than the scoreline suggests

World Cup Groups

Surely we should qualify, first or second will depend on whether we can upset the odds and beat Neymar and co. in the first World Cup match. Update will come soon on Brazil Vs. England

Brazil 2-1 England

Lucas Leiva scoring the winner for Brazil.

Fred, 50 (Brazil 1-0 England)
Dede og, 75 (Brazil 1-1 England)
Lucas Leiva, 87 (Brazil 2-1 England)
MOTM: Lucas Leiva 8.3 (Brazil)

Painfully close to a result against the competition favourites although they outshone us on the night, they deserved it more and wanted it more with the home advantage, we should still pull through the group however as Eqypt and Mexico should be fairly easy to defeat.
Some good and bad results there, but great detail
Spain didn't qualify for the WC, wow FM, wow. Anyways, good luck in the WC!

Egypt 1-4 England

Wayne Rooney scoring his first World Cup goal.

Andros Townsend, 39 (Egypt 0-1 England)
Wayne Rooney, 50 (Egypt 0-2 England)
Theo Walcott, 59 (Egypt 0-3 England)
Daniel Sturridge, 70 (Egypt 0-4 England)
Emad Meteb, 79 (Egypt 1-4 England)
Wayne Rooney 9.1 (England)

What. A. Game. England were on fire from the off but Egypt's goalkeeper was incredible this game, shame to concede a consolation goal but who cares to be honest? Also very nice to see Wayne Rooney get his first World Cup goal among Andros Townsend, Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge.

Next Update: Mexico vs. England
Great result!

Mexico 0-3 England

Daniel Sturridge with a gorgeous chip for his second of the night

Daniel Sturridge, 39 (Mexico 0-1 England)
Daniel Sturridge, 75 (Mexico 0-2 England)
Wayne Rooney, 84 (Mexico 0-3 England)
Jack Wilshere, 9.0 (England)

Fantastic result for the team guaranteeing us into the second round of the Brazil World Cup 2014. Hopefully Egypt find at least a point against Brazil, because if they do then we finish top of the group.

England 0 (4) - (3) 0 Germany

Jordan Henderson Scoring the winning penalty.

MOTM: Thomas Mueller 7.8 (Germany)

In a somewhat controversial game, in which Germany were denied a penalty late on, there was constant attack from both sides, however Neuer and and Hart were on form to a tee today. They left no room in the goalmouth for shots to go in, in stunning performances on both sides.

Next Update: England Vs. Belgium
Belgium will be tough! Good luck!

England vs. Belgium

Daniel Sturridge scoring the winner

Eden Hazard, 7 (England 0-1 Belgium)
Daniel Sturridge, 16 (England 1-1 Belgium)
Daniel Sturridge, 83 (England 2-1 Belgium)

We feared the worst but a little London lad called Danny Sturridge put on a stunning performance today, beating Courtois with great ease twice - winning England the game and a trip to the World Cup 2014 Semi-Finals, a trip, to Italy...
