Brotherly Love

25th December 2020

'Happy Christmas darling! I haven't seen you in so long now!' exclaimed my mum. 'I know, I know!' I replied, 'I should visit more, yes...''Well you must come in! You are the last one to get here'. She hurried me into the room adjacent to the hallway, where he was sitting. 'Hey, little bro' he mocked, as he sat with his arm around his wife. My brother Joe Yorke, Chelsea and England manager, had decided to come this year. He had won seven Premier League's in seven years, as well as six Champions League's, five FA Cup's and the European Championships in Turkey that summer. He was a nationwide celebrity. 'Hey' I grunted back.

The next three hours passed without too much going on, until the oven wouldn't start, and my mum therefore decided to cook our turkey on the barbecue on the patio outside. The usual chat about funny stories of nights out throughout the year and time in the past of my sister falling asleep into her food last year. And my brother kept speaking about his triumphs. God it made me sick just hear him speak.

Then he turned on me.

'So Max, how long has it been? What are you up to at the moment' he quizzed sarcastically. 'Well, I've been doing my studies at medical school: hopefully I will pass by the end of this year.' I replied quietly. 'Oh, well that sounds...fun, I suppose' he remarked, before laughing almost silently with his wife.

Suddenly, I snapped. 'My do you have to be such a d*** to me? You always belittle me! How can I ever do anything when you are always taking the p*** out of me?!'

And with that, I stormed out of the house.
Ohhhh, someone hates their bro, good luck!
captainbrickarms: Aha, this is actually written from my brother's point of view ;)

A New Challenge

26th January 2021

I finished up in the lab, and locked the door behind me. It was 11:00PM and I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. I lumbered towards my car across the road. The streets of London could be surprisingly quiet on a Thursday night in January, so there was nobody around. I had finished my last exam that day. Tomorrow, I would find out whether or not being a doctor is my calling in life.

I drove home slowly to find an advertisement leaflet had been posted through my door and was lying on the doormat:

Join the FA today! Do your Coaching Badges!

Come down to Wimbledon Football Club on 31st January, and start your career towards worldwide stardom.
'I did mine, and look where it got me' - Joe Yorke, England and Chelsea manager.

I thought to myself. Maybe I should give this a go. After all, it worked for my brother; why couldn't it work for me? I had a new challenge ahead of me, and it was to keep doing what I always did: Challenged my brother
Looking promising! Let's see you topple that brother!
squirmy420: Cheers mate :)
Good luck mate! a very good start!
AAN: Cheers mate, appreciate it :)
