Blackpool have today confirmed that rookie manager Stephen Gibbs will be in charge for the upcoming season. Blackpool narrowly avoided relegation under Barry Ferguson who has since been appointed player-manager of Scottish League Two side Clyde. The new boss spoke highly of the club in an interview with Sky Sports. "It's a fantastic club, I remember watching them in the Premier League under Ian Holloway. He's one of the reasons I came here, he was and still is energetic, funny and he persuaded me to follow them while they were in the Premier League. I was gutted when they lost to West Ham in the playoff final a few years back but last season was one to forget. Hopefully, we can build a team and have a good season. The fans do deserve one." Gibbs will be assisted by Eric Black for the upcoming season.Blackpool are predicted to finish 21st this season according to the bookies.
Our sources have told us that Karl Oyston has told Stephen to ensure the players are competitive.
