Coventry story in FM using official update: 14.3.1.
These are my basic guidelines/rules for the Story:

-Regardless of how the team will do in the league, I will look to play my games on players that come through the youth system or player that start the game in Coventry.
-I want to develop my own players. If I will use regen players, they will have to start in Coventry when they come into the game.
-I will not buy any players for a transfer fee. (Hopefully I will not violate this in the future) However I can sign players who are out of contract.
-I do not have any unrealistic demands or missions, like playing Champions League football. Rather I want to use the local lads and try to get success at the same time.
-playing in the premier league is a long term goal but only if it is done in the correct manner. Success isn´t everything.

Now, lets start
Coventry City start with minus 10 points in League 1 and their media prediction is to be in the 24th position(last position), which is kind of strange in my point of view. It is a long season(46 games) and my objective is to try to make the playoff for a possible promotion.

Coventry also has a huge debt, one of the largest debt to value ratio I have seen. Coventry lost their stadium Ricoh Arena because of debts, which is a shame. So Coventry will be playing at a rental stadium called Sixfields stadium(Northampton own and play on this stadium)

The old Ricoh Stadium

The debt is a huge problem and I will try and stabilize the finance; however, I will not be spending any money anyway, so it is not all bad.

The good part is that there is a interesting group of young players in the squad and hopefully I can help them progress quickly.

As for tactics I will start of by play with a diamond 442, in a pretty straightforward system that emphasizes on playing through balls in the middle to my two blazing fast forwards. (Wilson and Delfouneso)

As for key players:

Christie who is born in Coventry and hopefully a long term players

Thomas is also born in Coventry and has like Christie only played for Coventry

Wilson is another local lad, born in Coventry.

Wills is my most promising center back and guess what? He is also born in Coventry

John Fleck, former Rangers player. Fleck is a skillful player and will be essential to any success.

There are many other players worth mentioning like Blair, Murphy, Phillips, Clarke, Webster and on-loan Delfouneso.

Next update will be the beginning of the 2013/2014 season.
Good, detailed first update! Keep this up!

Good luck!

Good luck! I tried with Coventry but delfeuenso was my top scorer then he broke his leg and is out for the season.

Good luck !

I am not going to go through the friendly matches, rather start with the first couple of games in the league and league cup:
I really do not know what to expect from the team, whether we will face relegation battle like the media predicts or if we can try for a playoff seat. It´s a long season!

Things definitely started on the right track

Win in the first game of the season

Great start to the season, still only with Zero points due to point deduction. A positive goal difference gives me the 23rd position.

2nd round of the League cup and a second win against a Championship side in the cup.

McAllister picks up Manager of the Month award for August. 13 points from 5 games.

Team captain and veteran Andy Webster is the perfect tutor for young center back Jordan Willis.

Jordan Willis was picked for the England U19 team after an impressive start to the season with Coventry. Willis got the man of the match award, Great news!

I didn´t notice this fact, good news to be returning to Ricoh in 2016, but that´s some time away though. 32,609 capacity is quite a bit!

No transfers in nor out. loan on forde is so that I have backup in the center of the pitch.
Great start to the season, keep this up!
Well, just over a 1/3 of the season is over! And the results have been better than I could have imagined.

This is the table after 17 games

The results been massive.

My offense has been superb, these three players deserve credit!

Wilson

Fleck

Delfouneso

New long term contracts with a couple of important players

player performance so far

After only a couple of months in the job the Job Status is Untouchable!

I want to end this update with a wonder-(winning)goal from midfielder Adam Barton against Gillingham, surely the goal of the season!!

Barton prepares a first touch shoot.

And the ball goes straight to the right top corner
what a start, and what a goal!
1
Great start, especially considering you had -10 points to start with!
After a very promising start, we wanted to see if we could maintain our fantastic form.
Playing against MK Dons away is a huge game because they have started the season extremely well and are in 1st place

The game starts with 4 goals in the first 22 min. Delfouneso equalizes 2-2

Delfouneso makes it 3-3 right at the end.

Thrilling game and an okay result.

second place is first looser someone said...

Now as I am getting closer to the January window the board decides to bring down the wage budget significantly. The wage budget was already low but this reaches a whole another level of low. 39K and now I have a minus 10K budget.

I am forced to sell two decent players that have are not in my long term plan, but I do not get a single dime for there transfer fee. :(

I did know what I was getting myself into to be fair and this doesn´t surprise me a whole lot.

Now...
A narrow loss to Hull City in the FA cup wasn´t a shock, but I did give them a tough game.

Moussa scores a stunner

Fleck continues to impress and is on his way to hopefully be League 1 player of the season. 7,41 average and 14 assist half way through is huge!

Fleck

Jordan Willis is progressing very well and his determination is up to 16 and his personality is resolute after an effective tutoring form captain Webster.
Jordan Willis has a focus on Long throws and is currently learning the trade of possessing a long flat bullet throw-in, he should be lethal next season!

Willis

Webster is now tutoring young promising left back Haynes who has played a lot of games this season despite just turning 18.

Four key long term players signed long term contracts until 2017!

All the major players in the team(Christie, Fleck, Willis, Thomas and more) have their me, manager McAllister as Favorite Personnel. This happens if you often speak to your players, praise them, warn them and also do well in games. Gain their respect.
This enables me to keep hold of players that would elsewise leave and sign them on long term contracts with lower wages than they had before! Like I did with Fleck, Wilson and Willis.

Insane game program leads to this! I have been lucky to not have any serious injuries this season and will take precautions to keep that up. I do not have any width in the squad so injuries could ruin the season. Light training program and rest is needed….

The season in going very well and hopefully we will be in the top couple of seats at the end of the season…
great update, with some good details
1
MK Dons are 5 points ahead in the second place, hopefully we can make a run for that promotion place.

tough game, happy to get three points

Huge game against MK Dons. Would be great to get three points...

League table before the game

Dons gets the lead

Adams, who had recently lost his left back positon to young Ryan Haynes, scores a stunning goal.

Game ends with a 2-2 draw.

5 games left...

Fleck does well to help us win Swindon.

And MK Dons looses, good news, the 2nd place is still a possibility.

Here are a couple of long shots and free kick from fan favorite John Fleck

Wilson and Fleck two key players are keen to discuss future, fortunately I spoke some sense into them.

Fleck is going nowhere!

First signing of the season took place in late February, great tutor for the younger players.

Youth intake

Decent youth intake to be fare. Griggs and Smith stand out!

Fine by my! :)

Wolves and Aston Villa banging on the door. I have no intention of switching to a club with stable finances. Dismiss it all!

Willis has made incredible progress this season, the youngster will organize the defense for years to come. Key player!

The table when three games are left to play. That 2nd place would be nice...
Good luck in the final 3 games!

3 points for Coventry and MK Dons looses, gives Coventry the second place

The defensive players are all Coventry youth products.

A Narrow loss against Wolves 2-1. MK Dons draws to go up to 78 points as well.

One game left, three teams that can get straight promotion

Last game of the season is against a strong Sheffield United side. The game ends with a narrow loss.

However, MK Dons loose their game and hand me the promotion on a silver plate.

The young players did play a big part this season

Here is the team stats after the last game

Jordan Willis is turning into a really good center back

Manager of the Year!

John Fleck has earned this:

Off Season:
Next seasons transfer and wage budget is in:

I will need to sell some players…
Moussa and Murphy out

Team for the Championship season. No transfers possible as of yet. Extremely small group.

Now in the pre-season there came up a very strange and surprising event. Some Tycoon is trying to buy Coventry City FC.

A ridiculously rich tycoon has bought Coventry and is pumping money into the previously high debt club.

New Chairman

New Chairman changes the transfer budget from a minus budget to this:

No outstanding loans:

Now, I started this story with certain goals in mind. Play with Coventry youth players and try to train them into good players.
Now I have enough money to buy anyone I would like, basically.

I do not know what to do… Should I resign? Find a new job, I have had a couple of offers from other teams. I see that Crewe Alexandra have an open seat.

Or should I try to make Coventry “The greatest force in domestic and international football” like the Chairman promises!

If I continue will I have to stop playing Fleck, Wilson, Thomas and Willis. And start buying players that are on a whole another level?

What should I do?

I do not want to build a Q.P.R or a Chelsea!!
