FC Barcelona: El major del mundo

August was a great month for Barcelona, winning both league games this month. But they also won the Spanish Super Cup[ by beating Atlético Madrid over two legs- Winning the second at home and lifting the trophy at the Nou Camp.

The first leg of the Super Cup was a 2-2 draw where Madrid came from two-nil down to gain some hope of winning at the Nou Camp. But what a second leg it was, with Barcelona winning 8-2 in front of 80,000 home fans. Both Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez put three goals past on loan Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois. Also on the score sheet were Neymar Jr and an own goal from Subotic finished it off.

Lionel Messi was Barca's star player through the month of August scoring five in four, and he also had the best average rating. Messi also grabbed 3 assists in the games played.

Barcelona maintained their 100% record in the Liga BBVA throughout the month. Barcelona were very clinical through the month, scoring a magnificent twenty-five goals and only conceding three goals in six games. Ter Stegen conceded no goals in 5 of these games which is equal to 450 minutes of football.

It all started off with a significant 6-3 victory of Valencia. Barcelona played very well in the game, although they were sloppy in conceding the three goals. The six goals scored were all of the highest quality, Lionel Messi scoring three.

The next game versus Sevilla Barca won with ease, scoring five and also getting a clean sheet. The first game of the Champions League was against German side Bayern Leverkusen. Barcelona won the game easily putting the famous Tika-Taka to use. Luis Suarez got on the score sheet in which was to be his first of six goals in the month. The month ended again with a clean sheet, and a Luis Suarez hat-trick. Suarez played in the lone striker role instead of Messi, and it worked a treat.

Luis Suarez seems to have settled in to the squad. To show us he has scored six goals in six matches, and scoring one hat-trick.
