New York City FC: The Start of Something New
New York City Football Club are a brand new club competing in Major League Soccer in the United States following an extension to the American league system. Ever since MLS commissioner Don Garber announced the league's intent to award a second team in the New York area in 2010, preparation has taken place are the side are now ready.
Predominantely owned by England's Manchester City Football Club and America's New York Yankees, City will be led behind the scenes by Director of Football Operations Claudio Reyna, a former Manchester City and New York Red Bulls player.
However, in front of the nation's prying eyes will be Major League Soccer great Jason Kreis, the first ever manager of the development. The Citizens will compete in the top tier of America for the 2013/14 season, and with a £32 million transfer budget, Kreis will set out to bring in a whole new team, and compete across the country in the hunt for success.
New York may be without a single player or a single sentence of history, but history is to be written.
We are blue blooded. We are New York City Football Club.
