what is more important current ability or best rating?

Please can someone help and explain genie scout. I'm wondering what is more important current ability or best rating. I'd also like to know what numbers are good for each division.

More important is best rating. And also very important are the role ratings you can find after you open a player's profile. Good numbers for division is a bit vague to answer, but personally I'm aiming at least for 60%+ for lower divisions (e.g. English Conference Premier).

Thank you mate,one more thing if you don't mind. How is the best rating worked out I thought it was an average of the roles within it but when I looked at these figures they were all higher than the best rating figure.

Best rating is the highest rating for the player's best position. Best position is normally the position he's natural at or very close to being natural (e.g. 16+ out of 20 in terms of positional competence).

At the moment it's not perfectly synced with the ratings you see for the player roles (usually specific roles have lower best rating).

Rating in GS is the result of an algorithm that takes into account the key attributes of a player depending on his generic position without focusing on particular roles.

Really appreciate your help on this mate. I've thought of one more thing I hope you can help me on then I promise I will leave you alone. You say 60% or above for conference sides would that go up around 5% for every league you go up?

It would be a good idea to have a look at some players in different divisions to get a general idea of what level of quality those leagues are at in terms of player quality. That being said, I've had players who have been a part of my starting eleven from League 2 all the way to the BPL. Sometimes players perform far beyond, and sometimes far below, the ability that Genie Scout suggests.

Justice made a good point. Check the best teams of the league you're in and see what's the best ratings of their top players. This should give you an idea of what ratings you need to aim for, and if possible add 2-5% to the higher average of it. And remember that pace and stamina are still the go-to attributes for lower leagues. Pair that with low injury proneness and high consistency and important matches attributes, and you're good to go.
