October: Improving relationships...
As predicted, I have come out on top of the bust up with Poleon and Holmes with their issues not being spoken about in the media anymore and it doesn’t look likely to rear its ugly head again soon. Instead, the focus has been on the brilliant football the lads have been playing and the definite overachievement of Oldham Athletic at the start of the season. However, we are not taking anything for granted; heck, look at West Ham United so far this season in the real world. Some in the media were touting them for Champions League qualification but unfortunately for them they have gone off the boil and are starting to slip down the league. That is what I believe will ultimately happen to my Oldham Athletic side. I can see us picking up a few points against the teams in and around our predicted final end of season position, which is the relegation zone but then struggle against the big teams of the league.
On reflection, this month is a pretty good one with Walsall continuing their fine run of form against us and holding us to a bore draw. Walsall appears to be my bogey team with us just not being able to get a win against them. The poor result could have meant the rest of the month could have gone against us but then Newcastle United score shows just how the squad’s harmony has changed for the better and it will bring us good results. Despite having the likes of Remy Cabella, Moussa Sissoko, Edin Dzeko and Ayoze in their ranks, Newcastle could not control the trio of Sinclair, Adyran and Wilson. They were simply unstoppable this game with them dictating play, scoring goals and just ending United’s chances of getting back in the game early on in the second half. If these three continue to play to this high standard we will surely avoid relegation. It could of course cause other players to moan about the lack of game time; however, I have shown I am not one to muck about and will let the squad knows who’s boss even if it ruffles a few feathers.
